    Default Judicial Corporal Punishment?

Why is coporal punishment so vehemently opposed?

It would be a great deterent for petty crime like vandalism and minor assaults. A couple of light hits on the backside. It's a more effective deterent than a prison sentence and is cheaper.

How on earth are light hits on the backside more of a deterrent?

For corporal punishment to work it would need to be brutal (I am thinking Saudi Arabia style here) or there no point. I think most people would oppose that.

    Corporal Punishment doesn't solve anything

prison or a community service is a humiliation
a few whacks with a stick and you can walk out saying; "it didn't hurt cos I is hardman"

Because if taken to the last consecuences corporal punishment leads to ''an eye for an eye''.

And... ''an eye for an eye, everyone will go blind''
