    Default Science Fiction Mod

Just as an overview what sorts of modifications would be needed. I feel like most of the frameworks are already there. Siege engine mechanics would be a good basis for transports. Artillery pieces are already there. A tank unit would simply be a modification of artillery. The gun animations could be changed to represent assault rifles. Other missiles could be reanimated as ray guns or plasma or something.

Would it be possible to create a hovering transport using a remodeled and animated siege tower type vehicle? Could you model a vehicle that would descend to receive or release troops then rise into the air when moving? Could you have siege engines designed to be bought as regular units similar to the caroccio standard?

Also how small (numbers) can you make a unit? Could a dozen man unit be usable? A dozen men or something in a flying machine storming out guns blazing?

Would a War of the Worlds sort of universe be doable? A sort of "steam punk" 19th century Europe. I think the engine could handle it I'm just curious about actual limitations before I let my mind start brainstorming.

What though? That gives me no idea of the limitations of the system.

Colonel, if you can find a team and actually accomplish some of these things then im sure that they will make you Legendary. It would enable a whole host of new mod possibilities.

That being said, it wont be easy....i cant emphasize that enough. Im sure that many have tried to make some of the things u mentioned. But all games seem to have their own limitations, and breaking those can be very hard.

For someone without extensive modding experience, creating things like hovering vehicles or ray gun lasers is nearly impossible. Automatic weapons can be done but still rather tricky.

All things tolled, i think your best off creating a mod that more closely resembles Medieval 2 TWs immediate capabilities. If u truly wish to take a TW game and turn it into a sci fi RTS, then i would wait for CA to release something that is easier to mod, or comes closer to the sci fi genre, neither of which are very likely.

Agreed, the Star Wars mod failed helplessly too.

this seems like something that couldn't work but... could you possibly implement, for war of the worlds, the tripods as archers? their heat-beam would be reskinned and exploding arrows, or perhaps the naffatun bombs?
