Siege Hang!

Well after Pope Gregory requested a crusade against Antioch I proceeded to the city in question to find my allied friends in the Polish already blockading the city walls. Now being the kniving heir to the Holy Roman Empire's throne I decided to pull a swifty on the polish. The Polish decided to assualt the City walls and asked my mighty army to assist, which in the Battle screen I decided to see if the Polish army could stand up to the might of the Egyptions garrison and toggled a night battle which deselected my army to participate in the coming assualt. After I ok'd the decision the Battle screen was gone and the typical end turn faction shields were present which was now stuck on the Polish shield.
Being a slow learner which always bite's me on the arse, I never saved the game. My question has this happened to anyone and is there anyway I can fix it.
