No Genonese/Pavise Crossbow militia in 6.3?

I've played as Venice and Genoa, Well Genoa not so much their roster is bland so far in turn 80. I can make Pavise Crossbowmen from castle or recruit Genonese Crossbow men from a fortress but I can't from large cities. Not sure why that is, other factions get them too in the begining of their respective campains. My 6.3 just bugged?

You can't recruit them coz it is the nature of the roster itself. You can recruit militias in cities and professionals in castles. You might need Roz's mod (still in WiP) to recruit all units from cities. But I think you can recruit Genoese crossbow militia in cities.

Yeah, I've recruited the non militia ones from Fortresses in late era turn 30, but even with my city being large and my barraks being the best I can get atm still no militias. It's pretty boring using spear militia.. for about 60 turns lol

You have to wait longer to unlock them. year 1300. or turn 200 if you play 1 turn per year.

Yes, the Genoa rota is pretty dull for much of the early game. Spear militia basically. Luckily most of the other western factions are much the same (although Genoa doesn't seem to have any interesting local units either). Still, love the crossbows even if they turn up late!
