Default Encountering an unspecified error after unpacking

I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered before but i looked around for a while and didn't find a topic like this.

So my problem is i unpacked everything using the unpacker that comes with medieval 2 gold edition and when i start the game and start a custom battle flashes black once, then it seems like it's loading.. and then the battle loads and then it CTD's and says "Medieval 2 has encountered an unspecified error and needs to close".

I have added the [Io] file_first = 1 or whatever it is so that the game reads the unpacked files but it still crashes. i have already re-installed the game, and it worked, and then i unpacked everything and it would CTD at custom battle.

My computer far exceeds the requirements and all my drivers are up to date and i am running it at the correct screen resolution so i can't think of anything else to do.

Would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance

Sorry for wasting your time. i solved the problem by deleting the two descr_geography files. Sorry. Delete this thread if you'd like.
