Can I Rename my Faction during my game?

I'd liek to know that is that possible to rename a faction during game?
I mean if I play as a Rus faction and conquer whole Russia It would be great to rename my faction to Russian Empire or Russia or so isnted of still "Republic of Novgorod"
Same with e.g Genoa. It sounds great if u conquer a lot and u rename ur faction to eg Genovian Empire (like the Roman one )

If its possible can some1 tell me how?
I want to start it with its original name and rename when I conquered a lot.

It's pretty easy.
Just open up expanded.txt (it's in SS6.3\data\text)
Search for your faction.
Then replace it's name with what you want it to be called.
Note: you'll have to revert this when you're done with the campaign, it'll apply to any campaign.

Slight correction: it's in SS6.3\data\text

Don't forget to delete the expanded.txt.strings.bin file every time you edit expanded.txt.

Because if you don't, they'll still be named that in all your next campaigns.

For Norway, you'd have to change it to something like this:

{NORWAY}The Norwegian Empire

Note: never touch the text in {}, that's what it's referred to behind the scenes. The text after } is what it's called in-game.

Hmm... in my case. I didnt really have to edit it in the notepad. I simply went to faction summary page. Clicked the faction name and from there you should be able to change the faction name in game and at any time you please. Also, you dont have to rename the faction whenever you start a new campaign. What ever name changes you made will only stick in that current campaign. If you make another campaign the original names would remain unchanged.

Huh? There's no faction name on the faction summary window.

Mine has. I guess starting a campaign through hotseat mode gives me editing privileges. I can also change the names of any city under my control.

Yeah, it's probably due to hot-seat. Editing city names is impossible in single-player, unless scripted, AFAIK.

Nah, you can easily edit the city names in a normal campaign. Done that many times myself, giving conquered settlements a 'nationalized' name fitting the faction I'm currently playing.

Right, just city names. It's fun naming them after my favorite planets in WAR40k because I know if my generals were alive, they wouldn't know WTF the names meant .

Select the city, then click the name at the top. Only works for cities you own.
