Default An interesting analysis of the coffee fetcher

Incredibly, the U.S. is being ruled according to the dreams of a Luo tribesman of the 1950s. This philandering, inebriated African socialist, who raged against the world for denying him the realization of his anticolonial ambitions, is now setting the nation's agenda through the reincarnation of his dreams in his son. The son makes it happen, but he candidly admits he is only living out his father's dream. The invisible father provides the inspiration, and the son dutifully gets the job done. America today is governed by a ghost.

This from the last paragraph of an article Forbes magazine by Diesh D'Souza, a conservative scholar.

I always find amusing psycho analyses of political figures by journalists and columnists that are complete rubbish, and no doubt this one has its flaws, but it does a better job of fitting together disparate pieces into a more or less cogent theory than most.

As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.

I like the way you have "philandering, inebriated African socialist" and "scholar" in the same post.

Also is there any coherent argument as to why your affectionate little nickname for the president should not be construed as primitive racism?

Didn't read the article did you?

That's BJ Clinton's description of him, not mine. I find it amusing.

Uh, well if you insist, then I think the article's pretty daft. Obama's no more governed by the dreams of his father than his predecessor was. At any rate, the way the writer describes his father, you'd think Obama's dad was Nasser or something.

Clinton's original comment wasn't, per se, although it has a certain racist vibe to it, especially since people have been sued over lesser comments in the workplace.

Then again maybe it's just a measure of what I've come to expect from BWB's threads.

Use this forum to discuss political theory in the abstract, as opposed to particular events or individuals.

This is about a particular individual and seems a bit lacking in political theory let alone in the abstract within the comments presented in the OP. Closed. PM me if there is a better place for a diatribe on a coffee fetcher.
