Default Recommendations for factions to play in 6.3

    Hi guys

I'm having a great time playing the Byzantine Empire on 6.3!

You can attack pretty much who you want with out the pope getting on your case. Your units are varied in their style of fighting... (horse archers, heavy infantry, javelin infantry + cavalry, super heavy cavalry... the list goes on) your position is slap bang in the middle of everyone and generally all the action!

Its a very interesting and challenging faction to play.

So what other faction do peeps recommend to play?

byz have been most enjoyable for me so far but sicily are also lot of fun and good to play as, try staying friendly with rome and invading with your navy non christian factions.

I like the Crusader States as a challenge and change of pace. Otherwise I stick to Northern European factions for the rosters, and battles in woods etc.

Danemark is sooo much fun. Especially when invading England.......Last night I invaded and hit Nottingham and Winchester. Immediately after taking both settlements I offered a ceasefire, very generous terms....heh heh heh.

Now when I want to go to war again I already have Englands best troop producing settlements. They have like 10 stacks milling around which is the only reason i did not go for the whole island. AI and its money bonuses......I control all of Norway and can only afford 2 good stacks at the moment. Early campaign so most of my settlements are too small to really churn out the big bucks just yet.

Long story short, I find that the most fun factions depend on your personal style.....and what units you like to visually use.

I agree. I also find that the most challenging factions for me are ones that start out small/surrounded by powerful foes/have terrible settlements etc. That makes it a challenging start, and I'm not usually good at it, so it's quite fun.

Choose a faction with units you like, and create your own challenge.

I'm currently in the beginning of a Poland campaign. Right from the Get-go I took all my troops and conquered the Byzantine castle in the south of Greece. I then gave all my original settlements to Lithuania, and cheated them a whole lot of money. They're now running amok like the European version of the Mongols! The've almost destroyed Hungary, and are pushing into the HRE.
