Re: RTWBI
In BI the religion penalty is the biggest hit to public order usually.
You can either 'leave them be' and can get away with a small penality with conflicting religions.
I think it is 5% penalty when the faction leader has a different religion.
So, as a pagan, leave those christian temples, don't put pagan family members to christian cities, and you will get away with 5% penalty.
IF you want to convert them:
- torch the city before you settle (to lower population)
- try to keep as much as your horde alive as possible (so that they will have a higher % when you settle)
- you will have 1 city (where you settle first) where you will receive a bonus to PO. Start from there. Put all your family members and agents there, and destroy the temple (low taxes might be necessery).
- only start converting the neighbouring cities when you will get a high conversion bonus from your neighbouring (1st) settlements. Use same method: put family and agents there, when you have 40-50% on the faith you want, change the temple.
If the unrest is caused by squalor (too big population) you should consider leaving the city, let it rebel, then siege+exterminate it.
Money problems:
as a horde, sack every city you can. As any horde, I don't even consider settling down until I have 100k in the bank at least. That will give you some time to rebuild and train.
For fun, I always sack Byzantium, Salona, Ravenna and Rome, just to weaken the romans (they are also super-wealthy if you do it first).
When you settle, your horde troops will be disbanded, so try to preserve your non-horde units during your pillage world tour!
