I thought it could be fun to revive the monthly RS screenshot competition that we ran back in the days of RS1.5. One entry per member. Edited or non-edited screenshots allowed. Who knows? The best entries could become future loading screens?

Also don't forget to post screen shots in the POTW (for edited screens) and UESW (for undedited screens) into the POTW and UESW competitions here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=33
The rules are in that thread - only one submission per person per competition and no resubmission of pictures.
I was able to win the UESW a few times using screens from RSII beta. This was without the 'bloom effect' which can create some stunning UESW pictures if used properly.

just wondering, when it comes to taking pictures with RTW, does it save to a TGAS file or do you have to manually alt tab out?
There are many ways to take a screenshot.
I've used Fraps for many years and even bought a licensed copy - it allows images to be saved in more than format (other than BMP) and also allows movies of more than 30secomds.
Fraps allows you to take movies and screenshots by setting up a PF key (or any other key) of your choice. It also has the frame rate shown which can be hidden and does not show in the picture (there is an option that does that). So, all you need to do is press the preferred key and then the image is saved ito a folder that you specify.
Many people use Howie's Screen capture which is also free. I think the free version has more functionality that the free version of Fraps.
I have used the CTRL+ALT+PrintScrn to take a screen capture of the active window and paste that into PaintShopPro. Alternatives to PSP are Creative Studio (expensive) but also Gimp which is free. You only need these products if you intend to alter the image - even if it's just clipping.
Rather than attach the image directly here you can use a 'host' to hold the image - all you need to do then is to copy the IMG codes and paste them into your post. I use a combination of Photobucket (www.photobucket.com) and Imageshack (www.imageshack.us). Both are free. Photobucket requires an email address and limits the size that can be held (you can upgrade). Iageshack has no such limits. I prefer Photobucket as it allows me to set up albums so I can find the pitcures again if I need to. There are other hosts around - I think tinypic is one.

Thank you, ive actually got fraps/photoshop, but seemed a bit long winded for taking screenshot! ill look into these programs pretty soon, would like to have a screenshot of mine featured in a loading screen if i win! let the games commence! will reasearch into this soon, to busy campaigning away atm!
thanks Brusilov!
Great idea!
Only dream I ever have. Is it the surface of the Sun?
Everytime I shut my eyes, it's always the same.
The easiest way to get a decent screenshot is to use custom battles and save the replay. By using the movie camera (-movie_cam switch) you have a lot more control over the camera (height and tilt) than you do with the one in campaign initiated battles.
The UI interface is removed with a combinaiton of space bar (main details) and 'num lock' (the blue line at the bottom). They toggle so if you press one too many times the interface will come back.
Camera height is controlled with the '/' and '*' keys. While tilt is controlled with the '+' and '-' keys. A full list of what controls you have is shown in-game on the control menu.

I'm not quite sure if this thread should also host the pictures but anyway, here comes my first contribution for this month then. It had a crappy picture as source I took while documenting my campaign for any future ARR as I always do, so it wasn't much to work with but I still like the idea despite the horrible resolution I got from that tiny screenshot. Made it while ravaging a huge carthagian town I can't recall the name of, early into the campaign, might be carthago nova or something. I hope I can contribute better works the next months but I thought this might help to get things started. (res is 1600x1200)
EDIT. obviously it's edited, but mostly only for the font and the blending

Impossible is not a fact It's an opinion. Impossible is nothing.
Maybe this should be stickied or some such measure should be taken to stop it constantly sliding down the forum.

should enter these in POTW!
@General Brittanicus - at the moment there is way too many sticked threads. Quite soon a new thread will be appearing on the second page of the forum (I've set up my screen for a lot more posts per page than standard as well - so it may already be such).
Anyway. Unedited screenie (already posted in the pictures and the UESW competition):

If I had to choose one of these to enter in the competition, it would probably be the third one as that is the one I am most fond of.
