    Default Forest battles

I am a newbie and I have a question regarding fighting in forests. ( I havent been able to find the answer here) Is there a way to make the trees transparent so you can see whats going on? I avoid ALL battle in forests if at all possible and never play as Germans, Gauls etc because I cannot see what is happening in the forests. Forgive me if this is a dumb question and thanks in advance.

I don't think so, lowering the vegetation quality just makes the trees flat and two-dimensional.
But that kinda defeats the purpose of fighting in the forests, so that you cannot see the enemy and the enemy cannot really see you.

I hate fighting in the forest. It's one of those situations where the AI knows whats going on but you don't. I've found the most effective thing is too put all of your infantry in a very compact formation with the missle and cavalry troops well protected because it's guaranteed that some enemy unit will get around your flank.

Which faction are you playing? With the Romans, it is easy to avoid these problems if your cohorts are in a manipular formation, so that skirmishers, archers and cavalry can be stationed between the cohorts. Just turn off skirmishing mode for those units, and especially with slingers, they can just stand there and fire away, protected by the front line of infantry. You just have to be especially careful with general units as those are especially vulnerable to flankers.

I play different factions. I wanted to try Germans or Gauls but I don't like not being able to see whats going on and so much of Germania is Forest.
