    Default General/King units dismounted

    Are these two units seperate?
    If so is there some way of modding either of them to be dismounted but reataining all other bonuses?

    Turks have them. Are saracen militia bodyguards. Are worse than heavy cavalry.

    I want to make my King unit an infantry unit, is this possible?

    Yes it's possible but all the other generals born or adopted would be dismounted which is not that good.

    Can anybody point me in the direction of where I should be asking modding questions?

    I need to remove a unit from EDU so I can put my new one in because ss has reached limit of units, correct?
    Any suggesttions on what one would not be missed?

    Yes the limit is 500 for EDU so just delete a unit entry and u are done and the remaining entries for that unit won't cause any conflict.

    I think some of the mercinaries in the turkish/buzantian regions could go. Theres about 4 or 5 horse arche units split between the turkish faction and mercinaries in the area that are very very similar, literaly a plus or minus attack and defence here and there. Id suggest getting rid of those guys to free up some space. Also some muslim units could go if you needed to free up alot of space, the muslims all look aweful being no different from vanilla so losing them isnt a huge lose

    I have heard that there are multiple ships, and some duplicate militia units. So you may not have to remove a
    "real unit", also scottish highland rebels are peasants, which scotland has, with better morale.

    U if Delete a Merc unit from the EDU then make sure u also delete it's entry in the descr_mercenaries.txt otherwise u will get a CTD .

    OK, done something wrong here. Crashing at the load screen.

    Well the rule of modding is to always make a backup of a file before u fiddle with it.
    If not then look at the SS system log.txt file is the logs folder to locate the error.

    10:09:45.893 [data.invalid] [error] DATABASE_TABLE error found : ids must be unique, non-unique entry Dismounted Huscarls found in file mods/SS6.3/data/export_descr_unit.txt.
    That looks like it could be the problem.

    Thx CC, I do know the problem was with my EDU, it was the only thing i changed.

    So you deleted one entry and then added only the general_unit attribute to it and now the game won't crash?
    Remember don't make a duplicate entry for the same unit if it's not a new unit and hence if it's not new then no need to delete a existing one(other unit).

    deleted on entry, deslected norway/denmark from early era bodyguards, copied dis. huskarls added general_unit to it and played with the stats a bit then re-added it to EDU.
    this is the original unit desc. for dis hus and is still present in game.
    I think i need to do more to distinguish between the 2?
