    Default LAN party

    Hello,

I have two computers at home connected by a cable link.
I load NTW on my desktop computer and it work great.
I will buy a second copy of NTW for my other computer but before i would like to know : is it possible to play LAN in NTW ?
Can i play offline with steam ?
Any advice (a certain configuration of my LAN) would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank

Well, there is a LAN game option, so it should work (haven't tried it out myself though).
You cannot be offline in Steam though, which would disable the whole NTW Multiplayer section.
Thus you would need to configure your LAN so that both computers have access to the Internet.
If by "cable link" you mean that the two boxes are directly connected via a cable between them (and not a router), you can configure Windows of the one that has internet access to let it "share connection".

Both computers have access to internet (wifi).
And they are directly connected via a cable between them because i play LAN party with my brother : sudden strike, Theatre of war ...
If it's possible, i will play NTW too

    you can play LAN
you cant play offline multiplayer, only single player
seeing as you need to be connected to the net anyway, to keep speed of connection up, perhaps:
connect both PCs by ethernet cable to the router (or wireless) (ie they are simulataneously connected), then play.
the speed and quality of the connection wont really suffer at all compared to a direct cable link, and both PCs will be connected to the net, so steam is open, and so you can play multiplayer

Uuh yes you can play in steam offline mode. Ive done it countless times with a buddy. The other dude wanted to play cod a couple of times and since it was his account weve logged in to the offline mode. He could play CoD while me and a friend could lan NTW. It was campaign mode, but that shouldnt mather.

We did have an active internet connection tough, dont know if that might be an issue.

And we did get the "connection to steam server was lost" error numerous times while both computers were playing in the offline mode, odd.

Al three of us have the game by now, (and I never play CoD).

if steam is in offline mode,it wont connect to the internet.ever.not even for browsing steam pages.so for you to lose connection to steam servers, you had to have the connection first.to have the connection, you have to be online.the way you put it, one guy is logged into steam online, and two people are on the same account at the same time, both in offline mode.multiplayer menu wont even open in steam if you arent online.unless you had downloaded an illegal version.

    Noo you shouldn't say that,

I have bought the version (you can check my account on steam if you doub": Sgt_Dikkerd). Multiplayer will open, atleast LAN will, I have done that countless times. Never played online, only LAN.

We have had the connection lost to steam error while playing a game numerous times too, both while playing ON and OFFline. I see that my word won't suffice for you. However if I post a screen here you can just say I made it while playing online. My wordt that that error happens in offlinemode is all you have to work with.

You are right that the steam overlay doesnt work in offline mode, however the multiplayer menu of NTW will open and you can host and resume hosting campaigngames on a LAN.

(ps. please use a space after a dot, it reads easier).
