    Well what do you think?

She has reduced the Vampire genre to romantic fiction for children. You may argue that others wrote Vampire romance but no one has destroyed the genre as she has. Say "Vampires are awesome" to a man but expect some harsh language and the word "gay".

Now there is no horror in Vampires, only dark romance.

About me: I am in no way prejudiced about the concept of Vampires.

Any author who has the audacity to write a book about a well known mythical character (in casu vampires) and openly admits to not knowing what the hell they are, can't be anything but a bad author.
Research on your subject matter is a pretty important part of being an author.
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...

she has destroyed the vampire genre.. i loved the vampire genre.. it always provided me with great fictional stories, in fact i once read a book( can't remember the title) where the author spins a fictional story of Dracula over the centuries, his involvement in wars, politics, etc

now all there is left is sparkling ing vampires...

She should of left the genre alone, damn her

edit: yes i voted for the first option

What was she thinking though? They aren't Vampires! She just took everything that makes them Vampires (evil bloodsucking demons) and made them into vegetarian beings with crystal skin!

Its a "love" story that happens to have vamps and were wolves. 3 way love triangle. I honestly don't see what people get so offended or gush over this. Its a medicore story. Nothing more.

Destroyed a genre? You give her WAY to much credit.

Whats different now? Are all authors required to write about vamp/werewolves with her spin on them?

She has destroyed the genre, few men would dare watch any decent Vampire program nowadays as they are presumed to be feminine and . Decent Vampire programs don't get the acclaim they deserve because every girl and so every reviewer seems to worship the abomination that is Twilight.

BTW, has anyone read the Twishite Parody: New Moan? I was wondering if it's any good.

Awfully written fiction, such books should only exist in the authors mind and never be published.

On the contrary, it appears that she has created a very successful subset of fictional vampires (and by no means have I ever watched or associated myself with her manuscripts).

Let's take it like this: over 100 million copies of her books have been sold world wide meaning that, according to a modest 10% royalty (keeping in mind it's probably more), and a sale price of $20 USD per book, she makes $2.00 per book meaning that her personal sales are possibly around the 150-200 million range just by book sales alone. I can only imagine what she's made from audio book deals and from selling her movie rights, but you can't argue that this type of Vampire Romance has a large, faithful following, nor can you argue with a profit margin like that. Do the math and see how much the publishing companies made from selling her books.

In terms of literary value are her novels worthless? More than likely. But the goal of fiction like her's is to make $$$, and good for her for making so much.

Its not just bad storytelling, its bad writing. Stephen King summed it up!
Count Stephen King among those not swooning over Edward Cullen.

In what should have been a controversy-free interview with USA Weekend to promote his latest book, the horror master has slammed Twilight creator Stephenie Meyer's writing prowess...by flat-out saying she has none.

What started with an innocent question on the recent juggernaut success of fellow mainstream writers Meyer and J.K. Rowling quickly devolved into a full-scale denouncement of the former's skills.

"The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn," he said. "She's not very good."

Leave it to an author not to mince his words.

Wow, if I known he had gone that far I would have immediately picked up one of his books to see what an awesome guy can write!

She made money off off millions. She made thousands of teens and pre-teen girls cream themselves and fork over money. I've met girls who say, "GASP you never read twilight?", them and their friends. she's brilliant.

Well then that settles it, Meyer answers the question of whether man is indeed superior to woman if girls think Twilight is brilliant

At least we have true blood to balance it out with lots of gore and violence. And they are very much like the classic vampire.

Heh I almost didnt want to give True Blood a chance, in fact I ripped the first ep when it came on 3 years ago apart in a post. Figured it was going to be lame vampire stuff but instead it did indeed turn out to be an excellent show and Ive since read the books (all pretty good).
