    Default Uruk-Hai Mercenaries?

That would be so cool. There are some troops like iron guards, dale swordsmen, rohan riders, gondor infantry, and more. They are all available to hire. I want to know if there is a way to make all troops hireable. For example,to set that Gondor can recruit Uruk-Hais, Nazguls, Trolls... I know that i need to change something in modeldb and in edu file. I already set ownership to slave, but when i try to add Uruks with create_unit code they have some thief picture and in battle they are silver. So can anybody give me tutorial for making troops mercenaries or making them belong to some other faction? Please, its very important for me.

It's only after you have lost everything, that you are free to do anything.

He's allowed his own opinion, if he wants to play with these units as Gondor so be it. It's a bit pathetic how all of the lore fanatics play one-upmanship with each other, and condescend members who want to make use of something which isn't in the books, or opposes lore.

Take a deep breath, count to ten, and think; can I help this person achieve what he wants too? If not, simply don't post.

Or do post, and belittle him all you want, and prove me right.

Very well said. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions and should not be judged based on them. If you don't like it, just don't download it. It's not like if he makes a submod like this that the world would end. Nobody deserves to be shot down by others for their ideals. There will always be somebody who agrees and somebody who disagrees with an idea.

@uzzui- Check the mod workshop out (use the link that was so graciously provided by Jean=A=Luc). It will help tremendously with your modding aspirations

Edit: Welcome to the forums uzzui!

If your not to be judged on your own opinions, what are you to be judged on?.

Actually the point that poster made, is actually a very bad one, let me explain, when there is a game about WW2, and someone says, hey help me make it so Allies can have Tiger tanks instead of those silly Shermans, and SS Divsions for UK and SU, you dont help them to achieve that, because all your doing is perpetuating ignorance, you explain that games are simulations of events, and conform to actual or inherently probably events/actualitys etc, and that such changes are not within the scope of the simulation, as it contravenes certain facts.

Its not an *ideal* to want to change the game out of all possible recognition, be it Tolkiens universe of real history, both have an existing framework thats well defined, its ignorance, and helping anyone remain in that state is not helping them at all.

    YES!!!!

I always hate how small the unit rosters are for each faction, doing this will be great!

Gondor hires Uruks from Isengard, paying them in the flesh of peasants! the Uruks storm Mordor wearing the white tree of Gondor on their amor, slaying all little orcs in their path!

Btw, why not add some more lore based mercenaries too, like:

    Rohan cavalry,
    Anduin Men (beorning or woodsmen)
    Rhovanion Men (or Dale men)
    Eriador's bandits
    Woose (druedan barbarians)
    Dunland's warriors
    and so on.

    Welcome on TWC uzzui

Yeah I think it is ok, to add mercenaries to faction you play for immersion or to make your own story.
I added men of Ruhadur for isengard, to make my northern armies more man based wile Uruk-hai can fight Rohan. And I have to say it added a lot.

Beside it is more realistic that saruman hire northerners instead of sending full armored uruk-hai swordsmen to plunder the Shire

Mercenaries are okay as long as realistic, I mean no trolls for the Noldor, no Citadel Guard for Rhun etc. And also no Lossoth/Druedain guys.

It isn't that unrealistic. Orcs are selfish creatures who would fight for everybody as long as they profit by it. Same goes for the corsairs. Wormtongue is good proof. As for the Uruk-hai I don't know cause they seem more loyal to me.
Maybe it would be possible to bribe a whole army so they don't just disappear and instead fight for you.

I don't think orcs will fight for elves, Dunedain or other Northern/Western men. They don't really trust nor like each other The corsairs would maybe fight for lots of people, though I doubt Gondor would use them. Wormtongue was corrupted by Saruman and men are easily corrupt by might, money and power.

About the bribing whole armies: use a diplomat.

It doesn't work. Only generals change the sides. The armies just disappear as far as I know.

    No, please.

If you like that idea, do it or ask a modder to make it. Everyone plays as he likes to.

But please don't try to justify it lore-wise or common sense-wise.
