    Icon9 Possible bug?

    1. Hi, I'm knda new in SPQR mod and this is what happened: I let Decius Julius mary one of my doughters and I noticed that he has 64 bodyguards (Other family members have like 13). When I sent him to battle and he is called praetorian cavalry. This happened before Marius reforms. Is this a bug?
    2. And I noticed that all of my family members have 0 loyality from the start of the game.
    3. To get marius reforms I need to destroy Carthage, so that means that I have to destroy all of Carthaginian faction or just their capital "Carthage"?
    4. Senate gives me missions but when I do them they just don't react and after some turns it says that I failed mission and popularity falls with masses...

    Thanks for your help.

Here is a picture of Decius Julius:

lol yes something is wrong, you shouldnt get praetorians looking like that, Did you happen to MOD this mod? if you did you might have messed something up. For sure you game is messed up somewhere. Its no BUG on SPQRs part, its something on your end.

    @Legio IX,

If your hardware can handle it, strongly recommend you to start a new game with HUGE unit size, game is designed for HUGE size you'll get best pop balance this way.

Also, for some reason -no evidence though- I always thought Senate missions did not work... Can anyone confirm this?

I am used to this unit scale, I always played with it original rtw... The bigger unit scale is more difficult for me - too many units + this mod has hd textures and I get less fps

And could anyone answer my 2, 3 and 4 questions? Thanks in advance

This is the only general that has praetorian bodyguards, but, he will die sooner or later, not a big bug I did not installed any other mods or messed up it...

    2. So that means they have zero loyalty when they are of age to command or when you took over (as Flavius Julius in 215 BC). << and what's the problem?

    3. I suggest you read the extensive information available here, read the stickies first...

The Marian reforms happen sometime when you have conquered Carthage and extensively developed your Italian cities. When this happens, you will no longer be able to recruit early republican units such as Hastati, Principes, Triarii etc, and get access to the new named republican legions. Upgrading to Imperial legions is a choice of your own when you want to do it, its just a matter of building the right barracks.

    4. I don't think Senate missions work, never tested actually but I feel so deep in my heart, never did the missions and have always been happy. That Senate / People popularity thing is not a part of my SPQR game, suggest you the same 'it works this way'.
LT might provide a more technical (and correct) answer if it is programmed at all etc.

EDIT - ok one thing that in theory has an effect on game is the popularity with the people, if you don't have enough support from them you simply can't attack Rome to disband the Senate and produce little Ceasarions and live happily ever after. However, in reality (in my games) at that stage when you have enough legions to even think about attacking SPQR you already control many regions and have enough popularity... always. so effectively you can still ignore popularity and when you are ready (army wise) popularity will be good enough too.

Well if they say "blockade that port" as a mission and you do it, you do receive your "present" :-)

About the loyalty: Same issue here, some people play with generals with loyalty rings but NONE of my generals have rings whatsoever :S

OK so it works sometimes. In other times I see Senate wants me to take settlements which I already have or blockade ports that belong to me. So I think it's not 100% fine...

You know I think I know whats wrong, are you guys using the Addon? If so Rings are removed but loyalty is still there. You just dont know anymore who is loyal and who is not. Its a challenging feature of SPQR Addon. Please read the Readme it will answer most of your questions

Yes, I use unit addon. I have conquered a almost all carthage lands with the same general, so I think loyality is not working... And I noticed that all SPQR familly members have praetorian bodyguards. This is not a bug? P.S. my praetorian bodyguard general died all others have tribune bodyguards

Loyalty works fine, you just can see the rings. Thats a feature, understand?

As for the family having praetorians you are NOT suppose to play as SPQR, so you moddified the game to do so, they are suppose to have praetorians and that isnt a bug.

Your Family should have Equites then after reforms Light Javelin Auxilia guards. End of discussion.

Ok 1 more thing, for some reason in my campaign there is no Spain faction and no Nimidian faction. Their lands are owned by Rebels. This is from the start of the campaign. I didn't mod anything...

READ the readme, we are not here to answer questions that are clearly posted. Those factions were removed for gameplay reasons. Next question that is already answered will result in the thread being closed. ;-)
