    Default Trade Routes Attacked

    6.3 is my first time trying out SS. I was wandering what effect these events have with the game? Is it basically an easy way to shed money or will my income actually be threatened if I dont pay the 5000 florin?

    In SS 6.1 if you didn't pay the 5,000 for protection against pirates you would get hit with a devasting 12,000 every few turns. It runied my genose game..I don't know if they fixed it in 6.3...I normally just pay it, although it's annoying.

    Its fixed in 6.2 and up - a bugfix is available for 6.1 (extended faq).

    k thx. I got 400 k so money isnt a problem, I'll pay just to be safe.

    I've been playing several campaigns never had any TR attacked... How do i get pirates to attack em?

    The event happen once your treasury exceeds 75k and will happen regularly thereafter, until your Treasury is less than 75k

    I guess that tell about my economy in game generally . Because I've never been attacked and I rarely hit 100k spending everything on warfare. I always spend all the cash on the buildings and the rest on armies.

    It's a 'random event'.

    If you don;t pay the 'insurance' then a lot of rebel fleets appear -which can be good if you're trying to improve your navy.

    Not quite.
    It's not entirely random - you need to have more than 75.000 florins in the bank.
    It also doesn't spawn rebel fleets, but rather if declined have a 50% chance of you loosing 12.000 the next turn due to the pirates.

    So, it's pay 5K and be done with it, or don't and face the 50% chance of loosing 12K.

    In my current game playing the English I am getting hit with that trade routes attacked thing all the time..At turns 40, 41, 43, 45, and 46..I pay the darn thing but that's 25,000 gold down the drain....I don't mind it once in a while, but it's getting ridiculous. Would someone create a mod to turn the thing off, or make it a reasonable once every 10 turns.

    It's supposed to only have less than 10% chance to happen, but as with most negative things in this game, 10% chance really means 90%

    You can change that number to something lower, or delete the whole section and also this to get rid of it:
    monitor_conditions I_EventCounter pirates_accepted = 1
    console_command add_money -5000
    set_event_counter pirates_accepted = 0
    end_monitor

    monitor_conditions I_EventCounter pirates_declined = 1
    if RandomPercent < 51
    console_command add_money -12000
    end_if
    set_event_counter pirates_declined = 0
    end_monitor
    This is in
    SS6.3\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign\campaign_script.txt

    You will need to do this every time you switch eras, or you can remove it permanently by doing it here also :
    SS6.3\data\campaign\early\campaign_script.txt
    and
    SS6.3\data\campaign\late\campaign_script.txt

    NOT SAVE GAME COMPATIBLE
