How much do you sell technologies for?

I find it can be a profitable, if time-consuming practice. I tend to begin by offering them to every nation for 1000 but in my current campaign I've found I can sell some of my more advanced techs for 3000.

How much do you manage to get for them?

Also, do you ever bother buying techs? I always find them to be far too expensive but sometimes trade regions for techs.

I usually trade tech for tech or will offer techs to get out of a war with a Naval Power that kills my trade. Sometimes I can get techs to end a war with an opponent i've all but defeated

After some bad early experiences with trying to offer techs, I just use a couple at a time to sweeten peace/alliance etc deals

I'm aware they can be traded for other techs and help bring about a peace treaty but I'm wondering how much I should be asking for when selling them.

Does nobody else simply sell them for cash?

Yep, i sell my techs for about 1000, sometimes 2000. But only to nations that i'll never have to fight, or that are going to be defeated anyway: mughal empire, saxony, denmark, portugal, etc...

I sold a lot of tech in my Ottoman campaign, needed the extra cash to boost my economy since all my money was going to army upkeep. Always ask for more money than you think it's worth initially, if they refuse you can lower your asking price a bit and try again. You can probably get 1000 for early tech, 2 or 3000 for more advanced tech.

I've researched about 75% of techs and some of the latest ones, I've sold for 3000. Anyone ever got alot more?

No course not, the later techs are big cash makers, but y then, mostly i already have enough money

Trade techs for tech is the best way.
Also try to offer higher or the same-level technologies to trade lower level technologies.
The AI will not accept it simply because of the huge number of your techs.
A simple way to fasten your tech research and beat the others is to trade with everyone.

Hi there.
I usually never trade techs, but I do use them in bargins to get out of wars I am not prepared to fight. I also use them to en snare potential allies.
