The better way is use auto manager. Your Empire is vast so you don't have to worry about money. Just watch the news/turn.

Bad new, i abandoned my campaign, the dirty parthian attacked me in the near east, my thorakitais are overun by mass companion and cataphract charges >,<. It suck when thrace does not have heavy spearmen like other barbarian faction!!!!

That's the main problem for the European army when they face the eastern (MED2 have the same problem too)

There're some ways to prevent it

Force them in "Urban warfare". Focus to attack their cities. Make fort when you want to face them. They will try to attack it (you lose some man when under siege but you can win). If not abandon the fort and they will take it. Now it's your turn to siege them.

If you have to face them on the open. Deploy your troop in the corner of the map to tired out Cataphract (they tire event when moving). Deploy their also eliminate both ranks and make your line more solid to face the incoming charge. Try to quickly pocket them when they charge. Just remember to bring some archers to take out their HA and hope they don't have too much cataphract archer who will crush you in both fire power and melee

Man, what i mention here is a full stack half Cataphract Archer and half Companion, no matter how you fight or whatever kind of battlefield, they would destroy everything in a single charge after pouring rains and rains of arrow on my soldier!!!

Its XGM_5_9_11 with Alex, all options checked and corporate with RF_1_2. Okay, its in VH/VH level and you may not "appreciate" it . Just download my save in the first post, the Parthian will attack in 12 turns on all eastern front, just pull troop back from Iberia 2 defense the frontier north of Armenia. I guarantee you will not like the idea of fighting Parthian. They are really nasty
