    Default 1:13 - total conversion post-apocalyptic mod

one world, 13 factions, one survivor

1:13 is a project exploring the dark and chilling world of the future. 1:13 presents a post-apocalyptic landscape of dystopian totalitarian societies competing for resources and survival. Climate change and nuclear fallout have devastated the face of the earth, and centuries after seeking refuge underground, mankind is scrambling back out of the bunkers to the surface.

    New Post Dec 2011

I'm planning a multiplayer/custom battle mode phase first before even considering anything like a full campaign. Since the mod would require a solid working battle system, which is difficult to achieve based on 'gunpowder' units in M2TW -it just wasn't designed for that, the units would just stand and face each other whilst laying into each other with automatic weapons!

So my plan is to develop the battle mode first, and for that I'll need skinners, modellers and EDU coders- which are always in such a high demand. But if I can do that then I think the mod could be a riproaring success.

There are mods made already that give unitmakers something to work with.

    Breech reloading animation.

    Gasmask "apocalyptic" style units

So if you are interested in any way in working with EDU stats coding, projectiles and battefleld behaviour, and if you have any interest in playing around with skinning and re-assembling models etc then let me know!

    Old Post

We did consider the project for ETW for a while but we are now focussing on M2TW as our platform. We are inspired and pay homage to the full range of media -films, games and books on the Post-Apocalyptic genre to give a full RPG experience from the strategic perspective.

Our factions are based on devolution of societies and civilisations, so we have a retrograde Steampunk vibe, a return to 1940's era industrialisation and using historical stereotypes for different faction 'flavours'. We will actually have more than 13 factions on the campaign map, but probably only 13 core playable factions.

Weaponry will range from explosives, automatic fire and cannons, infantry will be able to evolve armour and technology through the campaign progress. We will incorporate an armoured land vehicle unit, and we plan to represent 'airships' capable of aerial bombardment on the strat map replacing one of the agents.

Our map is totally new, a unique and challenging world that you will find it hard to recognise. Making the campaign a voyage of discovery and not allowing you to exploit your knowledge of geography in the fog of war!

Thanks guys, the drawings are from Googling 24 hrs straight into the depths of the net.

An AK47 for M2TW? I'd be interested to see that.

As for other questions, there won't be any advanced things like flying machines. AFAIK the apocalypse is written in stone.

Modding this would be first just custom battles -that would just require new units and new battle maps, which is not 'that much' work. 2D art for the menus, screensavers, UIs and new music would be a bonus, but again fairly straightforward to mod.

I think you guys are better off doing this kind of mod in a strategy game like Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars or that kind..

    You weren't joking!

Did you mod the gunfire/reloads at all? I assume you didn't replace the animations

    i like the concept

i guess making the models is easy but what is more harder is the animations (i'm unitmaker)

I know, you used to be in Dominion of the Sword when you were starting out, remember

Yep reloading animations would be a big thing, although you could probably just ignore that first if there were working units that looked and sounded and acted right. Looks are possible with a unitmaker. Sound is no problem.

But the AI- even the behavious of your own army- you don't want units to just stand around getting picked off by automatic fire, grenades, mortars, rockets and cannons. A battle would be over pretty quick.
I wonder about using the cantabrian circle and other features to add special behaviours or actions to the units

But a campaign with a blackened post-apocalyptic landscape with industrialised, polluted dystopian totalitarian states would be an awesome gaming experience.

We've gone ahead with this project, you can read more here. We have also released our main theme tune from our soundtrack. We also have new promo art. We will be releasing more detailed information on the map, factions, unit rosters and the tech tree in the next few weeks.
