I'm currently in a campaign with the Romans (still early though), and I was viewing the faction statistics when suddenly I spotted a spectacular rise in the Arverni's military power over the last few turns. (FYI: I am not at war with them)
It appears they were having a hard time and their capital got sacked, so the script spawned several stacks of pretty elite troops to save the day.
Yes, I know why this happens; to simulate massive emergency levies in a time of need and to make things more difficult for the human player when he/she is close to eliminating a faction...
Anyway, they fought back and regained their capital. Good for them. But what I then saw was ridiculous: them stinkin' barbarians are now steamrolling Southern Gaul with at least 6 full stacks! They went from lower-middle class military force to 4th largest (coming ridiculously close to my Romans in 3th place!)
A few thoughts: isn't this a bit overkill? (both against the player and fellow AI factions)
Will this spawning happen every time their capital gets taken?
Doesn't this kind of spawning boost destroy the faction's economy because of sudden overwhelming upkeep costs?
Still very much enjoying my campaign despite this issue though.
Ian
PS: when I sacked Carthago, the Carthaginians only got 2 stacks of emergency-spawning-goodness. Why is that?
