    Default Heroes in Custom Battle.

    Hi Everybody!

    First of all thank you this marvelous mod, and community! I have played this mod since it's first release and it's outstanding in every way. Thank you all again!

    So to the point.

    I would like to make a third age video using movie maker, but i have a very specific concept in mind.
    I need some heroes in custrom battle (especially Aragorn and Gandalf, possibly alone like sauron).

    So my question is that this is possible to make, and if yes, how?

    It is possible. You just have to make the models of all the heroes in TATW an elephant model and follow what they did for Sauron and the Balrog.

    But if they are elephants they wont be able to attack properly and do the finishing moves?

    Thats correct. They will well behave like elephants and just storm the enemy. Another limitation is that once you change it to a elephant unit, you can't use the unit in siege battles. Still it is the best possible alternative with the current game-engine.

    I have a somewhat radical idea:

    You can make a unit based off of the hero unit, with all of the models being said hero. Then you can make a historical battle, and set the unit to just have one man. That's how they did it in LOTR:TW, and it worked pretty well.

    That's a good idea!
    Is it difficult to make a unit with full of the same heroes? I'm not familiar with modding.

    Oh, and if i know correctly i can't save battle replays in historical.

    It is very possible to save your HB replays. Just type in "save_battle_replay name_of battle_here"

    And adding a unit with all the same heroes wouldn't be difficult at all. It just requires knowledge of the EDU and a little editing of the "export_units.txt" in the text folder.

    Is there a way to remove the necessity for having units in the battle at all is there a way to simply have a general, then use a hero model instead?

    All the ideas are good. But you have to remember, without a body guard, he will be "ping ponged" back and forth without even trying to hit.

    Best thing is, is to have a body guard OR this: Copy the troll code, change the unit and some attributes so they dont go flying with every hit.

    If you want, you can make a "historical" battle with it. Its a long process, so I might add HOW to do it in a historical with the new, modded, unit.

    Of course my Banner-Carrier idea would work perfectly here if the model can't be used as a general?

    Yeah, any model can be an officer, so there is no reason why it wouldn't work.

    Now, I don't think that he would accept it to be included in the actuall mod, but why not make a sub-mod for it?

    It would look weird in campaign to see heroes without their bodyguards.

    But in historical this could be quit interesting, protecting a single unit during the battle. There could be even escorting missions (don't know it's possible), protect Arwen from A to B position.

    And even then the game scale would have to be on small (if I am not mistaken) because no matter what value you put in EDU (which is the value for the small unit scale) it will make it times (a certain amount) and it becomes the new unit size.
