    Default Problem with my internet connection

    My internet connection has been unstable lately. It would continually disconnect every 4-5 minutes, and sometimes I wont be able to reconnect without having to wait 8 something hours.

    So, I finally called AT&T to see WTF was going on, and after hours of bickering over the phone, the operator told me it was something on my end. He offered to transfer me too "advanced" help(something I have to pay for) which I declined, as I figured I might come to TWC first.

    Couple things you need to know:
    I have Windows 7 64 bit
    I have DSL and I dont use a modem. I only have a ethernet cable hooked up to my phone jack
    I have a Gigabyte P45-UD3P mobo with an onboard NIC(i think this is the problem).

    My first thought was to update the drivers for my onboard NIC, but I cant seem to find any...besides the one from Windows Update, which didnt do anything.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    EDIT: also, when i look over the ethernet port, i see orange lights blinking. is this normal?

    Do you also have a phone hooked up to that jack? If so, did you remember to install line filters?

    nope, only my ethernet cable.

    i think i fixed it, though. i basically went into BIOS and disabled one lan port i wasnt using, and now ive been online for 30 minutes without interruption. woohoo.

    im gonna download Call of Duty 4 from steam and leave it overnight. if its done by tomorrow morning, im gonna consider this problem solved

    OKIE DOKE, it didnt work. It was fine this morning, but now its starting to up again.

    any network specialists out there? im ing dying here.
