Unit control problems in a battle

Hi. There is a problem with unit selection. When I select more than one unit with left mouse button, it selects only cavalry units. For example, I want to select only infantry units. I click left mouse button and make a rectangular line to include units and expect only the infantry to be selected. Then, somehow, only cavalry units are highlighted. Interestingly, when I hover the rectangular selection over all units to select all of them, it only selects cavalry unit. I don't think it is the normal battle management style of the medieval 2 total war. So, do you have any idea what the problem can be?

Well that is strange and it shouldn't happen but you can try Ctrl+M for selecting all missile units, Ctrl+B for siege weapons, Ctrl+C cavalry and Ctrl+A for all units.

Anyways try deleting the medieval2.preference.cfg file in your main directory of M2TW and see if the problem is fixed or not after u delete it.

Yes, that is. I play mostly Rome Total War. I often use the mouse to control the units. So, it feels better for me to lead the units by the mouse but it seems like I will have to get used to keyboard control.

I deleted it but it is still the same, when I am about to select a few units, it selects only cavalry units. I might try to re-install it. Actually, re-installing takes a lot of time and no solution is guarantied. I don't know if any patch can help...

Are you running a wireless keyboard by chance? Have you tried updating the drivers for the keyboard?

No. I play the game on my laptop.
