Running SS in a window /troubleshootsadfacegif?

Hello hello. I remember back during SS5.1 I used to run the game in windowed mode, and have tried to do so yet again in 6.3 I have set my medieval2.preferences.cfg file and added "windowed = 1" to the end and set it to read only, but apparently the launcher does not run off of any of the vanilla .exe's? Is this correct, or am I grossly mistaken and about to reveal my technical inadequacies?

think you need to do that in mods/ss/default.cfg. Also, in thread I posted, you need to have the resolution of your game the same size as your desktop background

but apparently the launcher does not run off of any of the vanilla .exe's?

The settings in default.cfg take precedence over medieval2.preferences.cfg. Thats nothing to do with the .exe.
