    Default Squalor and population hapiness

How do I decrease squalor? How does it even increases in the first place? What causes it, aside from uncontrolled growth?

    Thanks in advance.

The bigger a city gets the more mess it's going to make, you need to build things like aqueducts, wells and things that provide cleanliness to a city. If you want to slow down the increase of population and thus squalor, tax them to the max to reduce poulation growth.

The Problem is: high squalor -> discontent -> taxes have to put on low -> hight growth -> high squalor growth.

Esp. when you take an enemy city, this happens very often to me because the computer doesn't built enough aqueducts and stuff.

It helps to destroy pop-growth buildings and build health- and law-buildings as soon as possible. That of course prevents you from building trade- and tax-buildings

But that's the challenge and I like it

I think you can also prevent the circle I describe above by extermination, but I seldomly do this, normally I occupy cities.

Also build the anti populations buildings. Aka suburbs.
