Crash after a few minutes into a land battle

Hello all,

So I've recently reinstalled Empire on hearing about the new patch and now when I play land battles the game crashes to a black screen after a minute or so of play resulting in my having to restart the computer.

I've had empire for ages and have played it pre 1.6 without any problems whatsoever so I haven't a clue what's going on.

I've reinstalled the game again and updated the drivers for my ATI x1950 pro but this hasn't solved the problem.

Can anyone help me get to the bottom of this?

Check for heat. Black screen can mean overheating. If you can in CCC, turn the fan to 100%.

Check your power supply voltages. That card is a power hog. I have mine for backup.

Clean out your case if have not in a while.

I suspected it might be heat although I have cleaned out my case recently.

How do I check/change my power supply voltage?

Could I just turn down the graphics detail as a solution?

Turning down graphics detail always helps. http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic...-readings.html are utilities for monitoring temps and voltages.
