I got it working manually without running the installer by

replacing the export_descr_unit(mp) with the new EDU posted here

Thats what the installer does for people who dont wanna go round editing the files..

Also the bat file that comes with it changes round the files to play between single and mp.

Has patch 2.1a got all these and fixed the file switching I've seen you have to do in earlier versions?

2.1a got the right EDU I think, but the file switching is not different. If you have to do it manually or not depends on which directory you installed in. If you installed in Program Files you are doomed.

Made a special edition that changes a few things:

Weapon/armor upgrades unaffordable, meaning units keep their original attributes: like missile vurnability etc.
Repricing to match that there won't be any upgrade costs payed.
Romans unit sizes made uniform.
Hamata and Segementana legionaries now carry the same price tag, difference between them is that Hamata legionaries carries 2 pila, but got less armor.
Boost in javelin power, but also cost for these units.
Archery made more effective, but also more expensive.

Polybians more of a high class unit.
Auxillia Infantry no longer follows the Legionary pattern of low attack/high defense.
Auxillia more like a barbaric command/raider unit with higher attack/lower defense. Bonuses in harsher terrain. May now hide in long grass.

For increased diversity between unit types, upgrading erases some of the differences.

Removed Eagles from cheaper units such as Carthagian Marines and Macharophoroi Epilektoi

Gaesaete stat tweaked and inserted into the Arverni roster to increase its sex appeal and induce the enemy with fear of being murdered
Caledonian Infantry stat tweaked and inserted into the Belgae roster.

Tactics 0.8 or Release the Thraikans:

Thraikans a playable faction of their own, you find them where the Free People's used to be.
Some archer adjustments, mainly the replacing of Eyrytanes Toxotai with Corsico Sardinian Infantry for the Gallaeci.
One less AP Flaming AP Javelin of Death for Falarica Infantry.
