CTD south of massilia (sp)

after many battles and many turns without any problems at all, i suddenly get a ctd every time i try to fight a battle on the coastline south of massilia

it's a wooded area so i tried messing with various detail settings for grass and vegetation, that doesn't help. also i never had a ctd before, regardless of details and number of troops involved.

before we get into my system specs and other graphic details, i was wondering if this could be the problem:

my reinforcements should arrive to the right of my own location, which is where the ocean is. the game ctd's as soon as i hit the 'start battle' button. could it be that my reinforcements are spawned in the sea and thus cause the crash?

i already fought a few battles in the area around massilia without problems, it's just this one which ctd's and the one specific thing about it is the ocean being where the reinforcements should arrive.

i'll circumvent it with autoresolve or maybe i'll try to fight with the 2nd legion as my own and reinforcements coming from the land-side

First of all drop your graphic requirements a lot lower. If you still get a CTD drop them to the lowest setting including your resolution. If you still get a CTD then it may be a bug. I somehow think you're asking too much of your system...

no it has nothing to do with my system, my guess was correct

it's simply that the reinforcements are spawned in an invalid location (the sea)

i started the battle with the other legion (on the coast) and used the in-land legion as reinforcements. no problems at all. i moved on and didn't take screenshots but it looked something like this:

1=1st legion
2=2nd legion
X = enemy

starting the battle with legion 1 results in a ctd, legion 2 should arrive to the right of my deployment area (which is the sea)
starting the battle with legion 2 is no problem at all, legion 1 arrives to my left, which is normal land

so this is just a FYI: dont fight battles where reinforcements are on the coastline

specs, just for the sake of it: XP, 3ghz processor, 1g RAM, 8600gts video card.
not the hottest system and it's laggy in big battles but i have grass turned off and it's still quite doable with high unit detail and medium vegetation

Happens to me to but sometimes it does work(fought 2 battles) and when it doesn't work i need to withdraw to fight the battle and the Arverni stack is supposed to spawn in the ocean if i look at the campaign map

Please post a save game prior to the start of the battle. We can then investgate this problem with the map. If we don't get a save then we can't investigate.

I don't have the CTD - next time please post a save.

I've fought battles before on the coast line without a problem.

Some locations may have problems.

The locations can be found by using the show_cursorstat command on the Rome console. Either save the game prior to a battle or get the correct location.
