Alliances as WRE in BI

Playing as the WRE in BI, I have not managed to make any alliances. Even the Sassanids who do not share a border with me and have the same enemy (ERE) refused, although I offered 12.000 denari.

The same with the Germanic tribes, even in cases when Goths are threatened by Huns and Vandals, I am also at war with both hordes, the Huns do not want to form an alliance with me.

Does everyone simply hate the WRE?

Any tips? Or a similar experience?

Yes all of the factions hate the largest faction in the game. And here is a good tip, try to sweet talk the faction that you want to make an alliance with money first then ask them for the alliance.

I have actually been trying that with the Goths for a while. To no avail. After I invested some thousand denari, they allied with my enemy, the ERE...

In BI, I was able to ally the sarmatians, the slavs as WRE. Actually they offered alliance (both were hordes).

As Rome, if you get back your rebel lands (Spain, Gaul) you are pretty much set to keep off everyone who can attack you.

Instead of making an alliance, make a badass army and ravage their country. Then they will start begging for ceasfire and alliance!!

Really? Beggin for ceasfire?

Last time I was nearly finished with the destruction of ERE as Huns, a diplo arrives:
- ceasefire
- give back Byzantium
- give back Antioch
- give back Jeruzshalem
- give back etc...

They had 1 settlement left

LOL!! The AI dose sometimes get cocky. I dont know about barbarian invasion, but in RTW when i had reduced Carthage to 1 city, they offered me 14400 dinari in exchange for ceasefire. I took the money and destroyed them anyway!!

Actually the diplomacy AI is screwed. It wouldn't ever accept an alliance from a faction that has regions for it conquer even if it is surrounded by enemies. If it does, usually the first thing that it does is blockade your port or stuff.

I am playing Carthage now, and at war with the Romans. The Scipii are trashed, and I'm slightly taking over the Greek peninsula (to get Statue of Zeus, my freaking provinces all had blue to red faces) from the Brutii, who are getting trashed by me (after defeating 20+ armies of them, though, my army of Sacred Band combos got decimated, though, trying to replenish them in Greece)

Now the thing is: I'm also at war with Gaul, who are at war with the Julii. The Gauls only send their armies into my direction, and they really don't bother attacking the Julii.

Even though I keep on destroying every Gaul army, they don't want a ceasefire from me. Petty foolish... would they still deny my ceasefire offers when I'll crush their heads under my armoured elephants' feet? I DON'T THINK SO!!

I think you need to download Patch 1.5 if you don't have it. SEGA fixed a lot of the bugs and improved the AI with that.

1.5 is with the Gold edition, right? Then I got that. I'm mass-producing armies based on Poeni Infantry/Sacred Band Inf, so some Hastati/Principes/Warband crap my enemies throw to me are pretty much a waste of their money.

Now, weirdly after conquering another 5 cities and having 44, the Roxolani and Sassanids come and offer me an alliance. That after many, many failed attempts to ally with the Sassanids.

Someone said when you are the strongest faction, noone would form an alliance with you. It seemed to make sense, until this happened.
