If you make Elven generals immortal you make everyone's generals immortal. Tis' a limitation of the engine.

How do you change generals ages anyway? I understand you have to change all generals ages, but I want to know anyway

Go to the descr_campaign_db in the data folder, find the max_age uint and max_age_before_death uint and change the numbers to your preference.

He didn't die, he 'Sailed West'. No, when you make one general immortal they all become immortal, that's why Dwarves retire and Elves sail.

Yep. Only in RTW - Alex you can make faction-specific generals immortal.

Best solution is to have everyone immortal, and have the starting generals of Men die by script.

It is possible to make individual characters immortal. For instance I made Sauron immortal in my submod, by letting him spawn again once you let him get killed when playing as Mordor. But this only applies to characters who start at the campaign not for new spawned characters (since you can't give them a label).

I beleive they respawn in Mordor when they die in game ie they're physical form is broken and they need a rest

just thinking... while their is a limit to how long someone can live, characters die of old age at fairly variable times... could the final age be made stupid long, then a load of hidden traits (or not) that effect the general time each race dies off? damn I should have gotten into coding, then this could have been more than a half-winded suggestion
The Duke of Dunwich and surrounding fiefdom

For any who are interested by my FF on occurrences in Rhun and beyond; I have begun a new project (not because the old one is finished, just opening more room for ideas) about one of the minor characters, Rankal. It is in the Third Age AAR index and here is the link http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=376994

If it is not possible to make elves immortal, is it possible, when a Elf died of old age, instead to write that he is died, to write that he has taken the sea to Aman?

It will solve both the problems (Lore and Engine problems). ^^

Your suggestion has already come true, when an Elf dies you receive the message '...... Sailed West' and about Dwarves, they retire.

So, if this is true... where is the problem? Everything is alright. ^^
