When I first made the Eregion Smiths I wanted to follow that concept I drawn but didn't have the knowledge or means to do it, the existing look is merely a deviation of the normal eldar unit and I want them to be more unique. Besides as you can see I'm not making big changes.

Fair enough, your concept art looks great anyway! Thanks for clearing that up.

On the eregion smiths. I'm really looking forward to how different it'll be from the current version.

One thing though, the hammer looks a bit heavy for him. I would suggest a warhammer with a smaller head which would be more similar to real world warhammers. The trade-off of course is that it would not as visually impressive.

Elves are the perfect race, they have lots of strength. The only thing Id say isn't perfect about the elves is how long it takes them to reproduce

Elves can do whatever they want to...if they want a giant hammer, they can have it!!

"too heavy" may not have been the right way to put it. What I meant was that if they were given a realistic looking warhammer they would have a more unique look to them. Kinda emphasizing finesse over brute force.

Admittedly, the current hammer is already smaller and more sensible than in most fantasy depictions of warhammers (i.e. Warhammer). And yes, if the current hammer does fit it better then that's what they should go with.

I do understand where you are coming from and I might make it tiny bit smaller, but there a few reasons I won't make many changes to them:
-The real life hammer gives too much of medieval vibe, and this is fantasy and elves
-These guys are actual smiths and their creations are refined (armor, weapon, shield) but they do rely a lot on brute force because they're stronger than the average elf, so their armor and weapon are heavier
-The hammer has an intricate skin that wouldn't show in a smaller hammer head

With all things considered, I think a smaller one can be done so the unit doesn't have just one look for their weapon.

Speaking of weapons, thanks Pallas I will be really needing new weapon designs like axes and polearms, spears, pikes.

May I suggest a weapon for any unit? A curved sword staff or more like a Japanese nagamaki would look really good in elvish hands. It would probably be used by as a heavy shock polearm unit. Pls consider my suggestion.

Have you thought about what colours you will use on this specific unit? In my opinion Warriors of Mithlond (which is pretty similar unit in looks) in TA:TW have too bright colours.

In general I'll be using silver, white, brown, blue and a bit of gold. I'm very good with colors so you can relax

I think your mithlond unit will be very good if its noiice and colourful good work, BTW is it going to completely replace the current warriors of mithlond units? :S because I still like the current mithlond unit

I agree, the bodyguards should be unique

I have a quick question Louis Lux, since you are changing the look of the Mithlond Nobles, will you then also change the look of the Elven Nobles as well considering they are modeled on the look of the current Mithlond Nobles? If so, would you consider taking my proposition into consideration for a new High Elven Noble? My proposal and thread is located here.

    Loving the concepts Louis.

One small thing, you do realise that in the concepts they are holding their weapons in their left hand?

More often than not that is how arms were wielded... though I myself find it odd as well

I guess the idea is that you would want your strong, capable, preferred hand/arm to make the most use of one your best defenses in battle--shields could also be used offensively: bashing, smashing the edge into enemy faces, etc.

Umm...no, the fighting hand is, was, and always will be the right hand. Its a simple aesthetic mistake on the artists part, but the left hand always holds the shield, the right and more capable hand (for the most part) holds the weapon.

    Case in point...

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Elrond holds his sword in his right hand, and Gil-galad holds his shield is in his left.

So left handed people would still hold the sword in their right (hand)?

Elves are perfect, why would they have any left handers?

I like the helmet but the armmour is very simple to be a high elven noble perhaps an armor bassed in the lines of the armbands could be a good idea. And you draw very good, you use any paint program for the shadows? hehehe
