Default Is it true that Empire is CPU intensive?

I have a lovely new 1055T (95 watt edition) on the way from america and I was wondering about the fps change I might see when playing Empire after it arrives.

Is it true that Empire is CPU intensive? I assumed it was but then a friend mentioned to me that this was a common misconception. That unlike say, supreme commander, the AI is written for whole blocks of units rather than individual units. This dude claimed that all the heavy lifting was being done by the graphics card.

Does anyone have an authoritative opinion on this? (maybe frame rates with different cpu's vs. different gpus)

    Hi there.
I do not know, but I do know that there is a better place to ask that question than here.

Yeah I thought about that but then figured there was no point seeing as I'm not actually asking for help. It's just a case of general curiosity.

I think its more the GFX memory that causes the problem rather than the CPU. Certainly, even on my PC I get GFX lag when fighting fort battles.

Well, I'm not a specialist in this things, but so long as I know a CPU with 2 or 4 cores should be used by a software equally ... meaning all cores on the same level as for example 50% and 50%.

I know of several reports that this is not the case at ETW at all, particularly Intel. Here we have a 100% - 10% for example and this is bad. The reason I don't know, only that this is bad ....

It is CPU intensive. When it first came out, it could not take advantage of multiple cores. Then a patch for that came out, and my quad system saw a HUGE boost.
Don't blame me, I voted for Pedro!
