It's working!
Im in XP 32bit, admin. account. So I had this initial prob. , now its fine. What seemed to work for me was to restart the campaign and game, and clicking on the Advisor's face did get me +1 denari (thus activating the script, I hope).

I have the same issue with my Roman campaign. I exited out of the Rome completely as well as the launcher and I started a new campaign but I am unable to save. The script runs but I cannot save. I exited out started a new faction campaign and I was able to save. Exited out and then into the Roman campaign but again I was not able to save the new campaign. I deleted my saved games and I even copied the RSII folders from the install into the my Rome folder but I still cannot save. It is not a UAC/security issue because of the simple fact that I can save another factions game. I have tried all the suggestions, ie. exiting out, then back in, deleting the DVM map and saving, about everything except reinstalling which I really dont want to have to do.
Sorry, just frustrated and I just want find a solution. I will post one if I get it to work if someone else solution works
There is a couple of solutions posted in the known issues thread. Try them.

There is 3 ways of solving it in the know issues thread. Are you sure that you have tested them all.
Also you need admin rights to be able to save correctly.

I have admin rights as well and if you can save a campaign as any other faction it will not be a security issue since the top level folder where you installed Rome contains the permissions and any folders in the Rome folder will inherit those permissions. The only solution for me was to re-install RSII through the RSII_etup.exe
It´s curious because I tried to play with Rome, Carthage, Sparta... and everything goes well but with Pergamon doesn´t....
This is useless for me, I tried it several timesThis is what I posted a few hours ago...
1) When you see your Menu page that shows you can't save or load...simply click the "?" button on the top right.
2) Exit out of the campaign and game...sad to say whatever u did is lost!!!.
3) Re-launch the launcher...delete map.rwm...save...start the campaign.
This should kick start it...it worked for me.

No this solution resolve me nothing....The problem with Save/Load options staying grayed out seems to occur when you start a new campaign, then exit back to the main menu and start another new campaign. Restart the program as a work-around.
useless for meeeee arrrrrrgggggggggggI had the same problem as many seem here with the save not functioning at all.Everething was as it should expected.Install folder,UAC,Autosave, script. But the Devs seem not to have a solution. It seems the mod somehow corrupts the save or pereferences file of the modfolder campaigns. So see what i did and reply if it worked for you also.
First launch the campaign you want to play lets say Sparta.Even if you cannot save, play for at least 1 turn. Then exit the game.Next go to the Installation folder of Rome in your HD and find the folder that has the name of the campaign you played, in this case "Play_Sparta".Inside it you should find two folders,Save and Prerefernces.Delete them.Carefull NOT the Data!Just these two.OK now relaunch the game with the same campaign.Inside the game dont start yet the capmaign but go to options and make at least 1 change in the grafics options like resolution change or level of detail of trees.Anyway you could change the options to your likes so do that but if for some reason you didnt change them you must change at least 1 of them.Launch a new campaign without exiting the game. You should be able to save now.If you have the same prob with other campaigns repeat the process. With this you just force the game to make a new and clear save and pereferences files.
I´m running with Alex, but with 1.5 happens just the same and Pergamon only, not with carthage rome sparta....![]()

Great.. just spend a few hours on the game only to find out I cant save it. Nice job.
Ye i think this should be put in the original release thread and made a point as many people may get annoyed, i know generally like me i savce every turn and many other players do so it wont take long before we realise that the saving aint working, but for some players they might play for ages and then cant save. So i think a point should be made of this somewhere on the main forum rather then just in the technical help part, maybe part of the release thread so people know about it.
The problem is not caused by the mod. It's something to do with how the game has been installed, or the system itself and how that has been set up.

Hello,
I had the same problem with the Roman Campaign and could solve it with this solution, which is also mentioned above:
"I had the same problem as many seem here with the save not functioning at all.Everething was as it should expected.Install folder,UAC,Autosave, script. But the Devs seem not to have a solution. It seems the mod somehow corrupts the save or pereferences file of the modfolder campaigns. So see what i did and reply if it worked for you also.

Sounds a bit complicated but in fact isnt, and is worth a try!
So, now I'm looking forward to this extremely promising mod!
I can confirm that the problem is related to system.I installed the mod on two different computers both using windows xp sp3, both on rome total war gold with all the same .NET framework versions installed etc.
I haven't had a single problem on my computer, but my friend had that "save/load" problem. Also i installed them both from same downloaded installer.
We tried all of solutions posted on the forum with no luck until i deleted all the "Play ****" folders on his computer and copied the same folders from my computer to his.
Started the game and it works fine, he is playing for a couple days now saving and loading without problems. Incredible.

My computer is as follows: Phenom II 955 Black Edition at 3.6GHz, Asus M4A89GTD Pro, 4GB DDR3 1333( 3.25 used ), GeForce GTX460 1GB runing on Windows XP SP3 32bit.
My friend has : Phenom II 965 Black Edition at 3.4GHz, Asus M4A785TD-M EVO, 6GB DDR3 1600( 3.25 used ), Radeon 5830 1GB runing on Windows XP SP3 32bit.
I have assembled both pc-s, installed system on them both, drivers software, directx, all the .net frameworks i could find on microsoft.com and i could not figure out what was wrong.
Both systems use the same HDD Western Digital 750GB sata2 ( the same model ) on NTFS with identical partitioning, C partition 150GB, D partition the rest.
Software is as i sad pretty much the same on both.
Yes, the account I'm using in Windows 7 has administrator authority. What I did was I checked "Run this program as an administrator" on both the launcher and Rome.exe (I'm using Vanila RTW to play this), another factor could also be that I did not place my game folder in the ProgramFiles(x86) folder, but in a folder on my desktop.
EDIT:
I think the reason we can't save in the game is because Windows isn't allowing the game to access the hard drive to store/change files since it wasn't given administrator rights, which is why I checked both to run as administrator.
I have admin rights as you can see but I don't run the launcher as an administrator (in the properties):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
One thing that I didn't put in the Release Thread was to not install to the desktop. I think that is not the right thing to do.
