Default Noble death on campaign map??

Playing vanilla atm. My army headed by a family member just joined a crusade to attack constantinople. I then select it to attack constantinople. What happens next is bizarre. My army falls over and dies, dissapears and i am informed that my family member has had a noble death. WTF!!!!!!

er , i didnt save it, i stormed out of mtw2 in total frustation. gna reboot and see what happens.

ok, didnt happen again, but literally wtf. is an army supposed to die if its gen is killed. also, the only plausible explanation could be death by old age. how is that noble. also the scabby ferret is 32.

Entire armies don't keel over and die if the general does, even if they're Crusaders.
Jon had taken Donal and Benjen’s advice to heart: Sam may be fat and pathetic, but he is still a member of the watch, and one of the few black brothers who isn't a rapist or thief. (out of context, this sounds ridiculously racist)

That still wouldn't explain the noble death.

Maybe we should just declare me the winner of this thread and sacrifice 20 virgins to honour my existence?

Just throwing some, totally on topic, suggesions around....

    I have a question.

Why would you SACRIFICE virgins, O Eggy the Great?

Vanilla is a totally stable game, armies don't just fall like grass without any reason. It's not possible.

If a Crusading general is assassinated then army is leaderless and in one or turns it will vanish(desert) but not instantly. It happens only in the case of AI.

No, I've seen Russia get totally flooded.

The man speaks the truth, its happened to me before although on a smaller scale. As Scotland I attacked Inverness early on, laid siege, ended my turn. Next turn, my entire army was gone, my Prince was dead "Noble Death", the Inverness Walls were damaged and their garrison was reduced.

    Gone...

the only way i know that an army can fall is if it kneels down in an ambush, but then i doesn't really fall down. would be funny if an army died in a avalanche in the alps or drowns while near rivers.

Well i had once that my entire army rebbeld when my general died (of old age or assassinated or w/e), it was like a full army of Dismounted knights and knights and the best archers and it rebelled right in front of my nose.... :@

    Did you play hotseat?

Then you can't defend yourself in other factions turns, and if they destroy your army, then you would only get "A noble death" when it's your turn again.

EDIT: No wait, then you would also get the "Your forces melt away" thing :/
