    Default CTD - bribing generals

OK, someone loaded a save game in this thread: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=386942

It's for RTW exe and I get the CTD.

Prior to bribing the general I moved a spy next to look at the Retinue/Traits:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I then loaded up the game and wondered if the character 'Decimus Naevius Capella' already existed in the list of generals - they don't.

However, there are already two people with the same name: Decimus Fabius Maximus). One is the faction leader and the other is a general/governor in Lilybaeum.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

When there has been a sucessful bribe I think the faction leader can aquire some additional Retinue/Traits? If this is the case then I would presume that is the reason for the CTD?

Edited: I just realized that the duplicate is not the FL......

I noticed also that the saved game I downloaded didn't have the script running, so it would be a good thing to do something to endure it is running. The alternate running and not running of a script is going to cause all kinds of weird issues, and we'll not be able to really identify what they are without a consistent campaign where the script is always run. I'm almost tempted to ignore saved games where the script isn't running, because you have no idea how often that's happened, or if it was running at all...once, twice, etc.

Obviously if people are playing the campaigns without the script, they're going to run into cloned character issues as the script won't kill off spawned characters and they'll end up being adopted.

Question: Do we just abandon having spawed named characters?

If the script doesn't run, how would they get spawned characters? I think you're forgetting that the horse and the cart are 'both' in front on this one.

I think part of the problem is that the script is started but quite a few people appear to be reloading saves or changng campaigns on a regular basis.

So, the script is being run but not regularly. I think it's an 'all or nothng' thing - either the script is always active or never active.

I think some layers have admitted they they reload on a regular basis which does not help matters - some appear to be doing multple times per turn (my inderstanding is that no script can handle this).

If I put an army on a ship and its get sunk then it's part of the game.

The only time that I will re-load is if for some reason at the start of a battle my formation is messed up - all units are adjacent to each other in very deep columns. This happens every now and then (it may be something to do with adding a unit to the group without disbanding the group first) but I've usually reformed my line before the two armies get into range.

Maybe if we tighten up the script. In the dev forum HoH was suggesting a change to the script to allow players to close the script so they don't need to go all the way out to activate it.

I did ask something that was raised in the forum that it was possible to get a warning that the script wasn't running and the response is in the same thread.

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=387624

If we could get these in and tested it may improve things.

I'm sure that players will still forget to start it. I suspect that a lot of players are re-loading game when they've lost a fleet or similar.

It would be a shame to have scripted armies lead by a captain.
