Default The thing I don't understand is...

this: I have played several campaigns using the configuration I currently have (SS 6.3, RC, Savage AI), and within like 18 turns I've been able to recruit Feudal Foot Knights, which are a very important unit to me. I was able to get them with Hungary, even. Now, however, I'm playing a campaign as sicily, it's turn 32, and the best infantry I can recruit are Templar Foot Knights (cause I have a fortress with them). There are rebels in my lands with Sicilio Norman Knights, but why can't I recruit them? I have barracks, Fortress, everything. It makes no sense!

I have searched for the answer to this, and it seems that everyone with this problem has the supposed "bugged" set-up. However, as stated above, this same configuration has allowed me to recruit heavy infantry units such as FFK with other factions, just not with Sicily.

Were you playing Late Era campaigns before and now you are playing Early Era? Feudal Foot Knights don't become available until the Heavy Mail Event, in 1200. Same for the Sicilo-Norman Knights, which are Sicily's version of Feudal Foot Knights.

early camp or late? cuz if you are using early then I'd say that's bugged with 18 turns
Don't forget to rep me if you like something I did/ or not lol

See that green thingy under the Carroburg banner? click it!

No no no no, I'm playing early campaign all the way. I played early campaign before as well, and I had FFK for sure. Seriously lol. I'm playing with the exact same settings and configurations, and I haven't modified anything between the campaigns. Also, like I said, there are Sicilio Norman Knights in a rebel army outside my town, and I was also able to recruit those crazy Crusader Foot Knights and stuff!

The rebels get advanced units far sooner than anyone else in order for them to be at least somewhat of an attempt to a challenge.

If you got Feudal Foot Knights 18 turns into an Early Era campaign, then something's weird about your game. Are you sure you're not thinking of Mailed Foot Knights?

can you see the norman knights on fortress building description since turn 1? because norman should be available right from the start as long as you have fortress or citadels

for the foot version however, needs citadels, cmiiw

Nope! They're not in fortress description. But in my previous campaigns, the FFK were.

k/t: I play a very fast/effective game, so I tend to have big settlements rather quickly.

Oh yeah and I started the game with Mailed Knights in my capital even, but I can't recruit them from any of my castles/fortresses?? Lol. Best I can get are mounted sergeants, and once I am up to Citadel I can get Men at Arms???! And Pistoliers!

wow, that's a messed up recruitment pools

I do not know about 6.3 but in the compilation version, sicily get miles and miles pedites instead of mailed knights

Haha yeah it's pretty messed up. I guess I'll just roll with it! This campaign is way too intense to start over with a fix or something.

Anyway, I'd still love to know WHY THIS HAPPENED, so if anybody knows, please tell me! =D

I believe that rebels have more advanced units because there is only one recruitment list for them, so they have to have late units throughout the campaign or not at all. As for the rest, I can't tell you.

rebels have fixed unit pools, so they made them have high-late era armies.
