Ive found a fix for this issue.

Start the mod setup, but direct it to an empty folder. Once its done, copy and paste the folders into your rome directory, say yes to all copying other files.

Tada! It works. Well at least it worked for me.

    Oh lol, already been suggested.

thats actually what I accidently did when I installed it first since the game is under activision and not the creative assembly folder which the setup sets as default. Seeing how the setup always crashes when I try to change the directory, I had created a folder called the creative assembly so that it would go into the right place.

Guys, this issue has been answered loads of times already and is explained fully in the known issues thread.

In fact most of the issues that people are reporting are a result of not following instructions.

It's not something that is wrong with the mod, so there won't be a patch for it. Please follow the instructions in that thread.

Please believe the team and the thousands of people who have downloaded and played the mod without issues that there are no errors we've made with the installation and launching of RS2.

There are however possibly two or three things that may need fixing to do with CTDs within campaigns which have been reported.

I wouldn't say that. There are plenty of people who have done EVERYTHING suggested and can't play the mod. I'm included in that.

Ok, with this javelinrider issue. This one is weird because the animation is in the pack and it works for all of the developers - we've never once encountered this issue which is SO bizarre. We've all downloaded the final installer and installed it before release in exactly the way we've given instructions for and not one issue with this. However....

Try this......go to the descr_model_battle.txt file that's in your /data folder and try changing this entry (quite near the top of the file)

    type elephant_javelineer
    skeleton fs_s1_forest_elephant_javelinrider ;;; throwing javelin
    indiv_range 40
    texture egypt, data/models_unit/textures/Tone/seleucid/aor_india_javelineer.tga ;;indian elephant
    texture seleucid, data/models_unit/textures/Tone/seleucid/aor_india_javelineer.tga ;;indian elephant
    texture slave, data/models_unit/textures/Tone/seleucid/aor_india_javelineer.tga ;;indian elephant
    to this:

    type elephant_javelineer
    skeleton fs_forest_elephant_rider_javelinman ;;; throwing javelin
    indiv_range 40
    texture egypt, data/models_unit/textures/Tone/seleucid/aor_india_javelineer.tga ;;indian elephant
    texture seleucid, data/models_unit/textures/Tone/seleucid/aor_india_javelineer.tga ;;indian elephant
    texture slave, data/models_unit/textures/Tone/seleucid/aor_india_javelineer.tga ;;indian elephant
and let me know whether it works.

The entire elephant_javelineer entry doesn't exist in the descr_model_battle.txt file in either my main RTW directory, or my BI directory.

Or do as it says in the updated Know issues thread post 2.
    That should work.

Can you upload your descr_model_battle file please?

Indeed, but I'm curious to know what we'll see in the DMB file!

I'm sorry apple but your solution doesn't work - but I might have found out why we're having such trouble, give me 5 minutes and I'll come back with my findings.

    Got it!

It's SO SIMPLE you wouldn't believe it.

The problem itself is related to the same problem the launcher itself seems to have with transferring its data over existing RTW data.

The first suggested step to install the RS Mod data into a separate file is fine, but the problem comes after. If selecting all the folders at once and moving them into your fresh RTW install folder, despite how ever many times you choose to correctly overwrite existing files, this method does NOT successfully copy the contents of the mods DATA folder, and the RTW defaults appear to remain.

What worked for me was going into each individual folder of the mod, and hand copy-pasting the contents of each into its respective RTW folder. Naturally, any mod folders that don't exist already in RTW copy fine.

I tried this multiple times, in RTW folders located on my root C: drive, in C:\Games, and on my desktop, and it worked every time.

For example: you literally have to open up the mods DATA folder, and copy and paste all the .txt files themselves into your RTW Data folder. To be safe, do this for all the others and you should be fine. My mod worked immediately after doing this for all 3 folders.

Most be that you don't got admin rights to replace the vanilla files.
    I'm glad you solved it.
