CTD after battle capturing a city (carthago nova)

Hi there,


After battle against the Carthaganians I click on one of the option buttons to enslave, exterminate etc. the game crashes thereafter immediately, so ridiculous!! I hope someone knows the answer on this one???

One battle okay, more settlements get ctd? Then it does suck a bit!

Sorry for my words, frankly, I am tired of all those mods in which I am getting random ctd's. It's not healthy you know?

I got a similar ctd after clicking occupy option when conquering corinth with Sparta. This should be moved to the Technical help forum.

This is one of the known but not understood bugs with the RTW engine. This is nothing to do with the RTW mod so don't blame us for it.

There are various theories on what causes this and how to avoid it.

1) Wait for a while before pressing the button - certainly wait until there is no more I/O going on
2) Hitting the escape (ESC) key and dong a save before pressing the button (I don't know if that is possible).


This problem may be related to the 'Reinforcement CTD' (also a feature of the RTW engine).

Basically, you have a force laying siege to a settlement. The AI has a relieving army that attacks you and the garrison forces join in the battle. I don't recall the exact circumstances but its eithe rif you kill all or the garrision or it you don't kill the garrison then at the end of the battle and you make the decision to enslave etc that the CTD happens.
