    Default DLV 6.3

It seems as if this is a slim chance of every happening. Mini mods are piling up, BB is growing, Tokus is mixing his elexir, etc. Could there be a semi-official release by using Aegis Tournas' mod, collecting mini mods and "releasing" as one on the main page as a sticky? What do you guys think about such an idea?

Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

I think BB is currently ready as an unnofficial 6.3. Hmm yes 'Taiji presents DLV 6.3' has a nice ring to it

    edit:

Oh... I suppose I should fix/update the history campaign

Then we can have a beta, calling it '6.4 beta'. Calling it '6.3 beta' when we've already had one doesn't make sense.

I could help with such a task, if you guys want me to undertake it...
I could gather all the mods that we will all agree and then compile them in the Unofficial Deus lo Vult 6.3
If you want me to do it, just ask... I would be honoured.

Well I think my BB is already up to the task, and I am offering to do it already. But what would you want to add, Agis?

Personally I would be reluctant to add TaronQuinn's Aragon, for example, because Repman wouldn't like it. And also because I think it removes the point of the invasions, and the map we are using.

I don't really see anything else substantial to add in the minimod forum... The portraits are great but repeats and inappropriate crowns make me reject it.

Good Aegis! No rush, there is still atleast one thing left to include (a secret), but that wont be done for acouple of weeks I'm afraid. It's very very good tho.

Adding aragon to imperial campaign, could let the historical campaign attack Americas. I presume the two can coexist togather? Making the effort of TaronQuinn not a complete waste. His version is also modeld for imperial allready. What do other people think?

I would like to see all Tokus Artwork included, some units from Broken Crescent (if possible), some minor "Byzantine" improvements (I have some in mind) and fixing some areas in the map (unaccessible to the player without any real cause).

Do you have some more in your mind..?
NOTE: I wouldn't include Aragon, unless it is stable and bug-free...

The answer is no then, Wille. You can't use my work for it.

Agis, sorry mate, my work isn't going into an unofficial DLV version that I am not in full control of.

I have NO PROBLEM of you having the control of such a task (I just thought that you asked for my help).
If we all agree on some improvements, it would be nice to make an unofficial DLV 6.3 version.

DLV is repman's baby and until he relinquishes control and hands over the reins to someone else then there won't be an official DLV update other from the repmiester himself. That being said he has no problem with people adding to the existing work (as Taiji and others have so resourcefully done) but if you waiting for DLV 6.4 or DLV 7 etc. then at the moment that must come either from repman or with his blessing.

Then I frankly don't see the diffrence between this idea and your mini mod.

EDIT: Nor I'm I convinced why Aragon can't be included. By saying Repman would not like to include Aragon, is like saying he would disqualify things from BB like builing, traits files, NFOW script form being included like with DLV 6.3Beta. The map is also just fine without Aztecs and the focus on an invasion of the new world - since the market truly have spoken: Not just majority in the polls, but also a number of mini mods have taken up the challange to change this. Examples like DLV Europe, Aragon, Sweden). Even yourself have stated there is no future in the new world.

I suggest you just spit out why you are reluctent to cooperate at all. If you can't, then I suggest you continue with your mini mod as there is no diffrence other then the label.

I'm indifferent on seeing my Aragon project included; I'd love to see it used, but did it more for myself than anyone else.

Regarding additions though, I've been talking with Magyar Mod for several days about getting permission to use their units in DLV. They're very demanding about historical and geographic accuracy, and I've been using my revised Aragon map for the editing, but I don't see any reason why the Hungary region changes couldn't be incorporated quite easily into a new DLV 6.3/.4 map. See the discussion here: Magyar mod for DLV minimod

I've also given thought for adding some of Alpha Delta Broken Crescent units into the mod, as part of a larger project replacing Hedjaz with the Abbasid Caliphate. I planned on not only replacing some of Hedjaz's less interesting units with better BC types, but also replacing another half-dozen units throughout the game to give the Muslim factions a more realistic roster.
See Alpha Delta's stance on the use of his units here: Alpha Delta's policy on models/textures

My major project was going to involve not only the Aztec-Aragon and Hedjaz-Abbasids switches, but also the Magyar units, the BC units, and some units for Scotland. I was/am going to call it Chansons de Gest:

Here's the basic outline of Hedjaz-Abbasids. I've already done a lot more work on ground types and resources since I made this. But I would eagerly make it available to any 6.3/.4 project.

I mean no offense to Repman or anyone else that worked on DLV, but as I worked with Hedjaz rosters, buildings, unit cards, family tree and traits, I found that they simply were not as thoroughly completed as the other factions. So despite their uniqueness, they should at least be overhauled, if not rplaced as I am working on.

Just my long-winded suggestions; take them as you will.

    TQ

I could've sworn I posted here saying that this thread should be left to discuss any unofficial DLV 6.3/.4 stuff.....my mind is leaving me the more I work. Anyway, you can find me Chansons de Geste work HERE.

So I think this should be only for other issues regarding any future releases of DLV, rather my work. Sorry for posting that stuff and getting everyone distracted haha

Anyway, I have a suggestion for either Repman or anyone willing to take it on: faction videos! I usually turn them off, but it''d be cool to have even just a 30 sec. video featuring some of the chosen faction's units or a fly-over of their territory, maybe with some simple music. And maybe without a specific voice-over, or just a quick sound-track about: "This is total war!" or something.

Cuz right now, only 5-6 factions seem to have the right start videos, the rest have a Byzantium, or England, or whatever video, that kind of breaks the immersion factor.

So, anybody know of DLV videos, someone who makes videos over at the Mod Workshop, or even anyone willing to make them? Just a suggestion.

    TQ

Hail and well met, knights of DLV!

DLV stands as the oldest M2TW mod and a testiment to all your hard work.

Gentlemen, in his absence, may I suggest, while I have highest regard for Taiji's BB (play it, love it, dream it) and deepest respect for Agis'T, Brips, Demont, Harry'L, HbHadast, Furin, Grimblade, Yngvar, Sivilo, Taron'Q, Xtiaan and the gang's fine work, only the One True Modfather Replord can release a version beyond 6.2 (ie 6.3).

So keep DLVeloping your superb sub-mods for you all know - upon his eventual return - he'll bind much of your work into future releases. So at this time, it would be right and canny if all DLVeloper folk ensure their vibrant variants continue to stem from offical 6.2 canon.

Sir Lord Pope Swell-guy IIIrd Tokus*Maximus
