What an awesome film. Saw it for the second time. Now I am not Irish or American(not even close to those) and it left me with my mouth open. I don't know why I like it so much. And the ending is so beautiful especially the music. Here:
Leonardo di caprio has imo become a very good actor. I too liked gangs of new york.
The opening battle scene was epic, I like this movie alot.
when the union's inspiration through the worker's blood shall run,
there can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun,
yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one?
but the union makes us strong.
@-Kassandros- You saw it on TV and you are from Greece![]()

Loosely (very loosely) based on fact. Look up this book: Low Life, Lures & Snares of Old New York by Luc Sante
Ok. Thanks for the info.
@Divided: Bingo. But how do you know?
@Vladimir Fred-nin: For your info: I have a huge plasma full-hd TV, 3 computers(one of which is a laptop), my fridge is always full with tasty food, I live in the suburbs of the most beautiful city in the world were there's so many beautiful gardens, my home has large bedrooms and a huge living room, I live close to the most beautiful girl in the world, I have countless videogames, trust-worthy friends and a blu-ray player. Life is beautiful, eh?
And yeah, I consider myself rich![]()

why do people keep saying this?
have none of u seen romeo + juliet?
THEY COULD HAVE BEEN SO HAPPY TOGETHER!
that being said; yes, gangs of new york was a good movie. cant really put my finger on why as it always seemed a crazy unrealistic movie to me (doesnt help with the funny outfits of the time - especially 'the Butcher's). the ending was also great as has been said

If only Cameron diaz wasn't in the movie...
It would have been perfect without her
