    Default Aged Merchants

    Can anyone please tell me how to remove this annoying trait from the game? While I'm able to edit files ok I need an expert to point me in the right direction so that I get the correct lines!

    Why this trait was ever added is beyond me, it simply annoys and adds nothing. Right now I have a 56 year old merchant who got knocked off his silk resource by a passing army and can't move back onto it and a newly recruited aged merchant who is only 41! Rediculous and pointless.

    Still, enough grumbling. Suffice to say I'll be happy if I can get rid of it.

    Open the export_character_traits.txt file in the data folder of SS6.3 folder.
    Press Control+F to pop up the Find Tool, then type "oldmerchant" then you will see that aged merchant trait section.
    That is where you will change the movepoint effect of aged merchant.

    find the lines-
    Effect MovementPoints -4
    Effect MovementPoints -6, etc.

    Change them to whatever you want.
    Hope this help.

    EDIT: And deleting the whole entries from effect section and trigger section may work. But I am not sure. Safer way to solve this is to reduce its ridiculously reduced MPs. I made -4 to -2, -6 to -4, -8 to -6, -10 to -8, -14 to -10, -26 to -14 and sometimes -16. it is just an idea...

    nb - the bit in spoilers merely places a semi-colon ; in front of each line to comment it out so the prog does not read it.

    make a back up of the original file before doing any changes.

    start a new campaign to avoid messing up your existing games.

    And when you hold the cursor over the Aged Merchant trait on the screen, you will still have wrong descriptions. Don't think your changes doesn't work. Don't bother with them. You need to change the export_vnvs.txt in "text" folder. You will find them on the very top entries. If you made -2 MPs in level1, then change -2 in the export_vnvs.txt. So the effect and the description matches each other.
