Default An Emperging Super Power: State of Mississippi!

Population of the Netherlands: 16 million
    http://www.eztrip.com/destinationgu...onId-34347.html

    Population of Mississippi: 3 million
    http://www.netstate.com/states/tables/st_population.htm

    GDP of Norway: 27,391
    GDP of Mississippi: 21,833
    http://www.demographia.com/db-gdp-gsp1998.htm

So the Norway population outnumbers the Mississippi population by nearly 5 fold, yet the GDP isn't much higher. And Norway is one of the richest parts of Europe! And Mississippi is one of the poorer American States! (Notice how so many of the American states on the list were way up above Norway in GDP)

So much for socialism being so much better than capitalism!

EDIT: I made a silly mistake! Actual population of Norway is 4.5 million! http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/...k/geos/no.html
But that is still much higher than Mississippi's.

Don't the Netherlands have the whole EU to back it up?

What's that supposed to mean, anyway? The GDP is still the same.

Capitalism causes hurricanes. I we just adopted socialism, the hurricanes would stop.

Socialists have nothing to bost about. While the overall dead from Katrina was just over a thousand, the French death rate from a stupid heat wave numbered nearly 15,000!

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3139694.stm

So don't go around telling us how to handle emergencies!

I doubt that 15,000 French dead had a single wealthy person in it...

1 city vs 1 country of 60 million. You work out the maths. Very touchy on the issue, aren't you. Yet you seem quite happy to attack European ways of doing things. Like Europe, America has many strengths. Like Europe, America has many weaknesses. Alas you seem incapable of seeing this.

I still don't know what country you are referring to. Is it the Netherlands or Norway. Perhaps they are the same to you?

edit: Sorry. I take it back. I didn't notice the edit... But my first point stands.

Norway is NOT part of the EU

Norway and switzerland are two western european countries that have opted for various reasons to remain outside the EU

In case you're curious, the GDP of the netherlands is GDP: $ 481,100,000,000

Which is just a bit bigger than Mississippis 21,833

    Yep.

Here is a neocon for ya.

It's like that dumb bimbo whats-her-face who traveled north to the godless (that is, not supportive of US war efforts) Canada, armed with uncompromising sense of right and bad information, to tell them that they are notin more but stinkin hippies.

So you are done kicking up the dirt and being ****** over environment getting so much public attention via the TBS Program 'Earth to America?' I would imagine your hissi-fit would last much longer than that.

We have found a missing link between Homo Neanderthalis and Homo Sapiens!

Everyone in America has always known that New Orleans is a horrible city, it wasn't news to us that there is a huge number of poor people in the city. The city has long had the most corrupt police department in the country, which was shown when half of the cops didn't even show up after the hurricane, and all the other half did was loot.

In case you're curious, the GDP of the netherlands is GDP: $ 481,100,000,000

somebody does not know what a gdp is i can see

Ouch... what a GDP. Source for the figures?
    and neither do you...

the GDp percapita of the netherlands is only 29,500

mississippi is a lil over 21
Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

I would suspect the cost of living is substantially lower in Mississippi.

    That's a huge factor.

And other sidecosts are much higher I presume (health insurances etc things which are covered by taxes in Netherlands).

That is a huge factor as well, specially when you need of those services.

Everyone is warhero, genius and millionaire in Internet, so don't be surprised that I'm not impressed.

So by that logic, the PAYING of the taxes count too. (Unless you think money just grows on trees)

So at very least, it's a wash. But I would suspect our private healthcare is more effecient, and therefore more cost effective and therefore the mississippians would come out ahead.
