I'm not a pro in computers, but I read somewhere that the unit scale affects the stability of RTW...
So if you have your scale on huge, might be better if you set it to large... Large works fine for me.
Other stuff that might affect the game's stability are:
-The folder where you installed it (recommended not in Program Files)
- Disabling the "buggy" autosave function from RTW
And maybe check that your resolution is 32 bit and not 16... No idea whether this changes anything.
Good luck!

thanks, but I don't think that is related to the unit scales because clean RTW, BI and Europa Barbarorum work fine and so Roma Surrectum 1.6...
Maybe a problem with the installation or with some unit (not probable due to the huge betatest, great work guys, but otherwise i don't figure how).
It crashes also in the custoum battles and in the other campaigns
Despite having a nice graphic card the problem is that the RTW engine is quite old and struggles. It certainly does not make the most of the latest processors and GPUs.
There are some suggestions on performance in the release thread: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=386559
I have a system with a pair of GTX295s in SLI and I run at 2560x1600. With the high res graphics, hi res unit skins and everything set to the max I can birng my system to it's knees and cause CTDs.
The main thing with the options available is that it's up to use to decide what we want to see (better graphics or larger units etc).

The disabling of autosave and not using Quicksave is something to avoid in order to ensure that the saes don't get corrupted - not to do with battles. But thanks for the bringing it up - I've added a thread in the main forum for people to read. +rep

The Fact was that the battles were fluid even with max details, but by reducing the vegetation detail the pc is more reliable and the game more stable.
Thanks. As I posted the graphic options are endless so they should be able to be tuned for most systems. It's just a matter of experimentation.
