Default The Total war - Barbarian Invasion thingy

    Hello all,

I'm always confused by this. I've installed the files into the main TW folder so i can't use the BI option??

I'm using the Gold edition by the way

    Thanks!

    DH

Your question is not clear. Do you mean, 'Can I no longer play R:TW Barbarian Invasion after installing the mod?'

I don't have BI , but if you copy your cab files to the BI directory, it should work I think.

And (sorry for off topic) what does it change to run RS2 with RTW or RTW:BI?
    Does it change the AI?

RS should be installed in the 'game' folder and not the BI one.

RTW BI was an expansion to RTW. The way that expansions and 'mod foldered' mods work is to create a 'mod' folder - the BI folder is an example of this. The idea is that BI or the mod do not break RTW - it can still be played. The way that the game uses thse mod folders is through the shortcut target switch -mod:BI (for instance). This directs the game to use the files in the BI folder.

The way that mods are set up to be installed in the game folder is to run the RTW BI exe but with that switch set to -mod:

This is just background information. With RSII the game should be started throught the Launcher - it is set up so you don't need to know which switches etc to use as it will set them up for you. It is possible to run RSII through various shortcuts but the Launcher is the recommended way.

So, if you have RTW BI and you want to use that exe rather than the RTW one simply select Rome TW-BI.exe in the 'game engine' box onthe launcher.

    Hope that clears things up.

Also you can only use the exes for the games you have installed. So, if you don't own RTW Alex you can't run it.

@Permenion - the AI is better in RTW BI than in RTW. There are features such as allowing units to swim across rivers as well (if they are set up to do that). There ar eunits with this ability in RSII. Also the AI will do more naval invasions with RTW BI than RTW (this is faction specific and some factons are more likely to do naval invasions than others).
