Don;t forget you can inactivate the bloom in campaign using Shift+F12 to avoid the brightness issue.

And don't forget you can use Minimal UI to avoid having a too bright UI in battles.

How do I get minimal UI??? I have looked at the option screens but I can't find the option for the UI.

Also, I chose none in the poll, I tried dark but it just seems like the brightness of my screen needs adjusted whe I have it on so I don't see the point.

Look for the preferences folder in your faction folder (like Play_Rome, and then Preferences). There you will find a preferences.txt file, which you need to open. Then look for where it says MINIMAL_UI:FALSE and change it to MINIMAL_UI:TRUE. Best thing to do is to have all the preference files exactly the same, so also change the preferences.txt file in the default RTW folder, BI folder, ALX folder and all the other modfolders. And while you're in that file, I also recommend to disable autosave

I recommend you to do the following as well:
When using the minimal UI, you will find that the buttons for controlling the battle speed (pause, regular, double, triple speed) are nowhere to be found. So you will have to make a bind for these 4 things. You can do that in the Options menu, and then go to Controls.

Also, by pressing F5, F6 and F7 (I believe) you can control which panels are shown and hidden during a battle.

I tried all options, no bloob, light and dark. My loved one is Dark. it gives a cinematic atmosphere. I only turn it off (SHIFT+F12) in the campaign map when reading the scrolls. I use MINIMAL_UI in the battlefield and all is fine

Here's a screen-shot with the dark bloom.. Settings on High.

I invested a bit of time in fiddling with the custom settings, so I got a compromise between the light and dark modes, which means I can use it on the campaign map too.

Also, I don't know what setting I changed, but the HDR seems to work alot better now. When I open a scroll on the campaign map for example, it automatically turns down the glow so it's almost off so I can actually read the writing. I might be wrong, but I'm almost sure it didn't do that before.

That's extremely interesting! If you don't mind, can you provide a rough guide to succeed it?
As I said above I have to switch off the dark bloom I'm using, to read the scrolls.

or post your settings here for people to copy. I can also explain why it's had the effect it has.

The brightness in the light bloom is not so intense. I would suggest using that. And remember you can easily disable bloom with shift+f12. You have to edit preferences.txt in the preferences folder (Im not sure if you need to edit the one in bi folder or alex folder or the rtw folder, just edit all of them to be sure) and look for MINIMAL_UI:FALSE and make it look like MINIMAL_UI:TRUE.

Having these set the same doesn't really make sense as you're basically setting everything to work on the same settings whether it's night or day. See my explanation of what each function does.

Quick question, I have dark bloom enabled but many peoples screenshots here seem to have greater contrast / different bloom to me. Is this down to differences in computer specs? How can I check that Dark Bloom is enabled?

    Thanks in advance.

I am using Steam so am unable to use the launcher at present (as far as I know) - I can see the HDR effects in the _IMPORTANT STUFF folder, but I am not sure where I need to copy paste them to change the setting, to be honest I have no idea what HDR setting I am currently on.

Thanks again for the mod, you guys have extended the life of this game for quite some time.
