Sounds like a corrupt download may want to redownload and reinstall
Did you run Rome: Total War before installing this mod? Because if you just installed Rome total war, installed both patches but didn't run the game; you won't have the preferences file for the game to load... I fixed this problem by installing RTW with both patches and running the game atleast once to the menu before quitting. Then I installed the mod. This seems solve the problem.
I have this error too. Also if not this generic error,it will be the Unable to find script javelin_rider( i think its like that).
At first i thought the download was corrupt so i re download it again but this time i used the torrent link
I reinstalled RTW and BI and installed RS2 with the new torrent link download but the error still comes up.
I reinstalled RTW/BI again. Played RTW and BI first. Then i installed RS2 but still comes with the error
I reinstalled RTW/BI,once again, Cut and paste the RS2 cabs, exe and msi to the actual rome total war folder. Played a little rtw/bi campaign, then i installed rs2 from the rtw folder and the error still comes up.
I am using vista 32. My RTW path is in C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome Total War\
so thats where i lead the RS2 installation( because the default is Creative Assembly)
I think i am making mistake here somewhere but i don't know which.
I put all the 6 files in one folder( RS2.exe,RS2 msi,RS1cab,rs2,cab,rs3cab,rs4cab).
Do i have to extract the insides of the RS1,rs2,rs3,and rs4 cabs?
Because those cab files are in winrar file so i am thinking i have to extract stuff from each cab folder ,all of them in one folder then start rs2.exe.
Well i am not sure, the install instruction did not mention extracting the insides of the cabs., anyone wanna help?

ok i read the instruction again thoroughly. I noticed in the instruction screenshot that the rs2 6 files are put in RS2_public folder. When he started the rs2.exe, i noticed that he changed the install path( by browser) to the RS2_public folder.
Ok so does that mean rs2 should be installed where the 6 file folder is located?
I am not sure, if that is the case then it should had work when i moved the 6 files to the folder where my RTW is installed.
So i am guessing the first try and second try i downloaded RS2(filefront and torrent link), all of them are corrupted so i must try again?.
or i really do have to extract the content of the RS2 cabs file?
=( im really confused, i relaly want to play this mod .
Still have error after I reinstall and ran rome/bi/alex
i have the same problem...the 1 and the 2 time the mount problem and the 3 installation the javelin....
I have the same problem, just I can play the mod because before moving to win 7 I installed the game with XP and I got a copy but well I don't think it's a nice solution![]()
Problems that mention a mount database are usually related to a bad RTW BI install - or just a bad install.

A mount database error is either a bad install (wrong place) or you are trying to start the game with an Alex or BI EXE without the -mod: switch.
I've also noted that these problems seem to be in installs made in the 'Program Files' folders on Vista and Windows7. We recommended (out of experience) that people create a copy of their RTW\BI\Alex folder OUTSIDE OF the Program Files folder called RS2_Public or a name of your choice, and install RS2 into that copy. The reason is that the Program Files folder in BOTH Vista and Windows7 is considered a protected operating system folder in those two OS's. Whether you disable AUC or not, they will still reek havoc on installs there. Most of these errors (aside from flat out installing in the wrong place) sound like the OS is screwing with the mod files and causing bad installs because Windows is trying to 'virtualize' the mod (which is what Vista and Win7 do to protect the Program Files folder).
So I would HIGHLY recommend that Win7 and Vista users NOT install RTW or any or it's versions in the Program Files folder, OR, make a copy outside it of RTW and install RS2 there.

It could be that the RTW BI install is corrupted somehow.
Once you've prepared the folder for RSII and prior to the install starting test it to make sure that you can still run it.
The shortcut needs to have the switch that looks similar to your existing RTW BI shortcut. i.e. -mod:BI.

would it be alright,or possible if i install RTW/BI outside the C: drive?
No - it should be done with the launcher.
The example I gave was for someone who moved RTW BI and wanted to use the exe. All the switch does is tell the program (RTW BI) that it should (-mod:BI) or should not (_moduse the BI folder. If the BI folder is used then you will be playing RTW BI if it's not then you will be useing the RTW BI exe with RTW (or whatever is in the game folder).

i have rtw 1.5 as always. never had a problem with roma surrectum mod only 1 CTD in 3 years. the 1.5 start well when unmodded... i downloaded roma surrectum 2 from the torrent link, maybe is the torrent link corrupted or something like that? there is no other thing i can do to make this mod work. the installation is good the patch 1.3 and 1.5 are downloaded from sega support site as always. don't know what to think or what to do...
Do the contents of your install folder look something like this:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Ignore the RTW Alex.exe in there if you don't have Alex.
With XP that should be fine (I think).
The protected nature of the folders and UAC were a feature of Vista and then 7.

now i can play RSII...found the problem. it was the installer feature. we just need to install RSII in a different folder and copy and paste the files in the RTW folder. very simple. and all the problems are gone. no more errors at least for me.
remember to select yes when windows ask for replace the file with the same name. That's it! sorry for bad english.
