Default A question about changing skins in SPQR.

    Hi all,
I simply want to change the default skin of the republican legionary, but whenever I try to change these with another skin, which worked on vanilla RTW, I always get some kind of an overlay, which I wish to remove.
Please tell me if it's possible to do so.

    Thanks in advance!

I did this by myself, and then changed it back. Basically, go into the SPQR skin files, copy the skin you want to change to a seperate folder. Take the original Vanilla skin, paste that into the SPQR skin file and name it as the other one was.

However, you will have to get Vercigetorix's Pak Extractor first to get to the relevant files.

I'm sorry if my post wasn't clear. I have SPQR installed and all the skins are working great, however i want to change SPQR's republican legionary to another skin from a differrent mod.

Follow my instructions, but just for the relevant skins.

You have to get the pak extractor, I don't think there is a way without it.

I thank you for your replay, but i have already done this, I don't need the pak extractor because i have the skin i want to use.
I renamed the skin from another mod to "SPQR_INFANTRY_JULII_LEGIONARY_REPUBLIC.TGA.DDS" and the other two gloss files as well, and the skins are working but i get some kind of an overlay from SPQR's default skin(or something else). My guess is that it's more complicated to change skins in SPQR by simply changing only the skin files, maybe LT changed the models also but I really have no clue.

So if you understand me now perhaps you could help me. And if you understood me long ago, and i'm just driving you insane, then please explain it to me in any other way you can . Others can help too...

Did you remove the original file?

Are you editing in the "textures" folder?

I'm sorry that i'm double posting, but I ask the experienced moders here and especially LT1956 what is the different deal with skins in SPQR?
Maybe i should ask in the workshop?

you will need to copy over the Rome - Total War\Data\models_unit\ files that are appropriate also. You may need to check the descr_model_battle.txt to find out which ones it is using. there will be 4 ####_LOW.CAS MED, HIGH & LOWEST. Also, if you are getting radom gloss effects, just delete the gloss files that had the name if you dont have new ones with the skin you want. There are posts in the modding forum on how to add & remove units etc.
I have traversed Roman ruins from Israel, Egypt, Greece, Jordan & Italy.

Believe me, playing the game is more fun!

Thanks! i checked model_battle and changed the lines of the models for the appropriate models files.
    Problem solved!
