    Default Holy Romans overpowered

I don't know why but in all my campaigns playing against the holy roman empire are never enfing and frustrating. in my england i have been forced to ally with france and flanders to keep the Reich from taking over all of francia. the french have been pushed down to toulouse and marseille while all i have left is bordeaux and rennes and rennes is under seige while all that is left of flanders is antwerp. i turned on toggle fow and they have taken over poland and have arhus and it is only year 1201.
Ive noticed this happens in more than one of my campaigns. I was wonderi g if there was a way to turn down the money for the germans as they start out with the most terriories and are pretty aggresive.

Is your problem that the harmonic ballance you picture is gone or that you would like to influence Germany's status to a french/flemish resistance in a wild alliance-game? The former forces you to know what comming, since you design Germanys future. The latter is fun to observe and indirectly influence Germanys position in Europe

I hope you have fun either way mate Play safe

Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

just wish there was more of a balance of power since three powerful factions cant stop one faction from taking over the world. but then again i guess on the flip side i would complain that nothing significant ever happens in northern Europe.

its kinda different every campaign. just wait till HRE gets excommunicated and then if you really want to, create a crusade against them. After that they will most likely shrink.

This remind me of one thing, and one thing only:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Arnold Swarchenegger at the head on an army like this

DUN DUN, DUN DUN DUN - DUN DUN, DUN DUN DUN...[piano music]

(Now picture Don LaFontaine [ii] preaching this in his dark low into wise voice: )

In a world of darkness, a weapon will be invented like no other... By the Germans. The Germans rose from the asahes of the Roman fire. Their war to exterminate mankind had raged for decades, but one man will hold the key to the human resistance, RedGuard Conner.

Then ending of the intro begins with the intriuging music with Vespertilio by Hans Zimmer Lux Aeterna, before zooming over RedGuards campaign map/battle map. He now plays on with a fire in his soul like never before....

On an unrelated note, does anyone else think that the German voiceover for the peasant archers unit sounds just like Ah-nuld?

lol. i stayed up all night and pacified the germans finally. now novgorod has created a empire out of the shell that was poland and prussia. allied with the ukranians and trying to push them out of europe and back into western asia to no avail. the factions in this campaign are alot stronger than normal, i like it.

Well , in my previous campaign HRE started on a rampage as well , all the way towards Cordoba. In my current one (1240's) , the HRE is nicely contained however by Flanders and France in the west , Poland and Hungary in the east and they seem to behave. Got a diplomat on standby to pump florins into any faction that gets into a conflict with them just in case. But not too much florins , 'coz it don't want to create a new beast that way.Wouldn't be the first time...

so i started a campaign as the Reich(if you can't beat em join em) and i understand now why they overwhelm everybody. im making 20000 a turn at the start. along with the extra money given to the ai its a cocktail for imperial dominance. i noticed though everybody has okay to poor relations with the romans even though iv'e been overly considerate in dealing with other factions. this is probably another reason why the germans feel they have to conquer everything from the start, because all factions around them are a threat.
