Default Crash at the end of turn 48 w/odd solution

So I was happily playing SPARTAAAA fending off hordes of Macedonians when I started getting a consistent crash at the end of turn 48. What happened was when I hit end turn it would get stuck on Rome for a second or two and then CTD with no error message other than the useless Windows error thing that pops up.

After having no luck trying to fix the CTD, I decided to turn off fog of war with follow AI movement on and see if there was something specific the Romans were doing that could make it crash. Lo and behold the game got through the Roman turn without crashing! I was able to turn on fog of war once the Roman turn was over and it continued still without crashing, and for about 4 more turns I haven't had any more end-of-turn CTDs. So if you're getting a crash in the middle of the AI turns, try turning off FOW with follow AI movement on and see if that gets you through it.

EDIT: This solution does not seem to work if you've deleted the map.rwm. So before you do that try the above first.

That doesn't work, at least for me. It also made it so my solution no longer works either for some reason. Ah well, time to start a new campaign I guess.

@ Brusilov, I've uploaded my save if it matters. Runs on the Alex.exe.

Please post a compressed save game - the developers (mods) will try to investigage what is going wrong. The more examples of CTDs we get the less chance that other people will lose campaigns for the same reason (and also yourself).

Yes, I had that in a recent Carthage campaign using RTW Alexander. However, a few years later I had a permanent non error message CTD.

If you have a recurrent CTD please post a compressed save game to the forum along with details of the exe you use.

Yes, it looks like it CTDs (errorless) in the Roman turn as Marcus Fabius Maximus moves towards Singidun and then - CTD....

I'll pass it on to the devs.

In the meantime - enjoy a different faction but don't get too wrapped up in a campaign (just in case).....

Yeah, that's the same thing I saw after deleting the map.rwm. Before I deleted it, it went through no problems.

Playing as Scythia now, hopefully no perma-CTDs this time.

I just thought of something, I might have forgotten to activate the background script when loading a previous save in the campaign (then saved over it). I imagine that could induce some CTDs.

    Yes, that's possible.

I know Tone has posted elsewhere that if the script is not deactivated some of the characters may not be killed off. Another character is created with the same name and then the game CTDs.

That seems likely. I think I'll have to abandon the idea of having named characters heading up AI legions and emergency levy armies. That would be a shame but better than campaign CTDs.
